Advantages: blend well with hair colour, good quality grips

Disadvantages: None really

As I have some quite severe layers in my hair to get it some extra body, hair grips are a must when putting my hair up as some of the layers are quite short and don't go back into a hair band so if I don't use grips, I end up with bits of hair everywhere.

My hair is highlighted blonde, and therefore brown or black grips stand out too much for me so I use Boots own brand Blonde blending hair grips.

For the price of just £1.49, you get 30 grips in a pack, so although they do fall out or get lost easily, a pack does last quite a while and I think these are excellent value for money.

I love the fact that these are a dark blonde colour so they do blend quite nicely with my hair. I personally can still see them, but they are far less noticeable than brown or black grips would be and I think they are more noticeable to me as I know they are there, whereas friends have assured me that from a distance, they are unnoticeable which is the effect I wanted.

The colour is the main reason I chose these grips as standard grips do have a tendency to be quite dark, but they are good quality grips too. You may think that hair grips are much of a muchness, but cheaper grips do have a tendency to snap at the bend and also the protective bits at the ends of the grips also come off, whereas I have never had either of those problems with these grips and I have been using them for quite a while.

The grips open up with ease, but they don't open up too much which is the idea of the grip. They open just enough for you to slide them into place, then close fully again to almost lock the hair in place. They don't fall out easily and out of packs I have used, I have only lost a few which I think is pretty good going.

Overall, I have tried a few different brands of hair grips over my time and these have definitely proven to be the best. The colour match is pretty good against my own hair and I was impressed with the price so find them good value for money. They hold my hair in place well and are obviously made of strong stuff as they don't break easily. I will continue to use these hair grips in the future and therefore they come with a recommendation from me.

Summary: A decent set of hair grips from Boots
