Boots Essentials' Maximum Hold Hairspray
Advantages: Washes out well.
Disadvantages: Could be a little more stronger hold.
I do not use hairspray every day but I do use it a couple of times a week, usually use it for when I go out for the day so that my hair stays in place a little bit more. On windy days I do like to use spray so that my hair does not fly away etc. I have very thick hair and it is manageable but a little spray just helps to keep it in the style for a little bit longer.
This spray comes in a can. I paid £1.62 for it recently from Boots. It is their own brand and quite a popular one. I had not bought this one before and so thought it was worth a try. I thought the price was a good one for the size of the can being 450ml. The can has a separate top and a spray nozzle. It just has the name on the front and is quite basic looking but quite nice too.
It does spray evenly from the can and it is advised to spray it 25cm to 30cm from the hair and to avoid being too close to the eyes when spraying it but that is a safety measure we are all aware of when using a hairspray. It doesn't have any smell to this one. It is a fine mist when spraying and it does not drip from the can and is too heavy a spray. It just hit's the hair and lands well onto it. It does dry really quickly in no time at all and so if you are in a hurry etc this one has a very quick drying time for those occasions.
It is not a sticky spray on the hair, once dried it does not feel all tacky or rough as some sprays tend to feel on the hair, this one is a natural feel. I used it a couple of times on my hair after I have placed my Velcro rollers in my hair, I have just sprayed my hair over the rollers and when I have left it for a hour or so and taken out my rollers, the rollers come from the hair really well without getting all tangled etc. it is also very easy to brush from the hair too, which is good for my hair because I hate a spray that is all hard on the hair and takes awhile to brush it all out, with this one it is not a problem at all.
It does not give a shine for my hair but it does not leave it dull looking either, it is just a natural looking hairspray on the hair. I do like to also move my hair around and I am one of those women who tends to always run my fingers through my hair, I think it is a habit with me because it is something I have always tended to do all my life. I have shortish hair at the moment and I tend to put my hair over my ears sometimes and so need a spray that allows me to do this at the same time as have a hold on my hair so that it does not fly away, this one does the job nicely.
The can must not be left in direct sunlight or near a naked flame because it is highly flammable but that is just common sense for most people. The can has a good base so it sits well in a cupboard or on a surface.
It is supposed to be a maximum hold spray but I do not think it is that strong a hold in my opinion, I think it is a medium hold one because it does not hold as well as some other maximum hold other brands. I do like it though and would buy it again but it would not be my first choice but it has served me well for my hair. I have had no problems washing it from my hair and it has not damaged it in any way, it has left my hair in the same condition and so that is a bonus for me.
I do recommend this spray for anyone looking for a good, cheap spray that is affordable. It is worth the money and a good quality spray and excellent value for money. It gives me all the results that I expect from a cheaper, shops own brand of hairspray.
I give it 4 stars and dropped a star because I do not think it is totally a maximum hold spray in my opinion.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
