Advantages: hair feels soft
Disadvantages: made my hair very frizzy
I like to give my hair an intensive treatment once a week to keep it healthy and looking good. The latest one I have tried is Boots Expert heat protection intensive conditioner.
~About the product~
This product is for hair which endures a lot of styling with heated appliances. I use straighteners on my hair around four times a week, and occasionally curl it with tongs too, so my hair definitely falls into this category.
This product claims to give dry, damaged hair an intensive moisture boost as well as detangling and conditioning. It contains Pro-vitamin B5 and a UV filter to protect your hair from sun damage as well as 'unique antioxidents' to protect against further damage.
~Packaging~
This comes in a white tube with the product name written in orange at the top and a picture of a woman with incredibly smooth shiny hair. The tube has a flip top cap for easy opening, and tells you about the product and instructions for use on the back.
~Using it~
The conditioner is white in colour and fairly thick in consistency. It has a nice smell, quite a fresh and feminine scent. You simply smooth this treatment through wet hair and then leave for 3-5 minutes before rinsing.
~Results~
As I washed it out of my hair I could tell that it had detangled it, and it felt smooth. I usually use my hair to dry naturally, rather than using a hair dryer and causing even more damage to it! I have used this about four times now, and always found the same result. My hair feels soft to the touch, but is always quite frizzy. This can be sorted out with some serum and straighteners, but having to use a heated appliance to sort out a problem caused by something that is supposed to be reversing the problems caused by heated appliances doesn't really make a lot of sense!
There are a lot of products on the market at the moment which claim to protect the hair against heated appliances but I find it very difficult to make a judgement on whether or not they actually work, as my hair looks neither better or worse than it did before I started using this!
~Price~
This costs £2.49 for a 150ml bottle from Boots.
~Conclusion~
I will continue to use the rest of this as I don't like wastage, but I don't think I will buy it again. It did leave my hair feeling soft and conditioned, but it also left a lot of frizz which I wasn't too happy about.
