Advantages: It cleans my hair and boosts the colour
Disadvantages: My hair has been softer with other products.
I was in Boots the other day and, since I was clutching a voucher for extra points if I spent £15, I was looking to see if there was anything else that I needed costing about a pound or so to make my shopping basket total £15 or more.
I noticed that the Boots Henna and Horsechestnut Shampoo and Conditioner were on offer - buy one get one free and they were only £1.29 each anyway. The shampoo and conditioner were both labeled as being for 'brunettes and red hair' and that they both 'enhance hair colour and shine'. Being a redhead I have used these before but haven't had any for years so I decided to try some and it meant I got my bonus points!
*** The Bottle ***
The transparent plastic bottle about 7 inches tall is quite ordinary in style but smart enough to look good on your bathroom shelf. It has a picture of horse chestnuts on the front label along with a small blue Boots logo. It contains 300ml of conditioner and the bottle has been made using recycled materials. It has a flip top lid which is quite easy to open but more difficult to close properly as it seems a bit difficult to align the hole in the lid with the raised bit in the cap.
*** The Conditioner ***
The conditioner itself is thick in consistency and mid brown in colour looking a bit like pale chocolate sauce! It has a light fragrance which I am afraid I can't describe as I can't place what it smells like! Sorry about that!
*** The Use ***
Obviously it is suggested that you use the shampoo and conditioner together for the best effects. The instructions for use are really simple - you are told to just smooth the conditioner through your hair and then just rinse out. I was happy enough with the ease of use and I didn't need to use too much; just a blob the size of 50p piece was plenty, although we do have soft water and I do have short hair! The thick conditioner spread easily through my hair and rinsed out well. Mind you it was strange standing in the shower with brown water running down my body and round my feet! Incidentally the writing on the label of the bottle warns you to avoid getting the conditioner on clothes or towels and, if you do, you should wash them immediately.
*** The Result ***
Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say my hair feels wonderful as I have used products which have made my hair feel softer than this conditioner does, but this product did clean my hair well. A few days after washing my hair still feels soft and I do think that the colour has been enhanced by an added shine. I am certainly more impressed with this product than I was with the Sunsilk Passionately Red which had no effect on my hair at all!
*** In Conclusion ***
I was impressed with this conditioner at the price and I would be happy to buy it again, although as I said earlier my hair has felt softer.
Summary: An excellent product for the price.
