Advantages: Performed OK
Disadvantages: Needed a lot to get a lather going
This is a review of Boots Ingredients Camomile and Lemon Balm Shampoo which is especially formulated for fair and blonde hair. I used this shampoo in conjunction with the same conditioner in the range and I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with the results.
Packaging
The product comes in a fairly small bottle, with 300mls in content. The bottle is clear with a flip top and a white label with the ingredients sort of pictured. It's a poor picture of what looks like a giant daisy and a green leaf which I presume is the camomile but it doesn't look very good to me. The bottle is recyclable which is good news. I like the flip top lid as it is easy to squeeze out the product and reseal and the shampoo doesn't get stuck in the lid like some other shampoos.
In use
I find that I have to use a slightly larger amount of this shampoo to get a good lather going. I do have quite a lot of hair so this bottle did not last all that long for me. The shampoo does not have a strong fragrance but it does smell OK. I rinsed out the product and finished with the camomile and lemon conditioner to get the best results.
Results
I usually wash my hair every other day (unless I need to wash it for an occasion or if it gets dirty or sweaty in between) but with this shampoo I found my hair was getting quite greasy on day two so really needed to shampoo every day with it. As for the fair and blonde hair claim, I know camomile is a good natural enhancer for blondes but I didn't notice any difference on my hair in this respect.
My thoughts
I was really disappointed with this shampoo as I have liked other products from the Boots Ingredients range, especially the mango and orange hand wash. I found that I was using this shampoo intermittently because I knew the results wouldn't last very long so if it was a 'not doing much' day I would use this but pick another one if I was going out and wanted my hair to look nice and stay clean for a couple of days.
Price and availability
A 300ml bottle costs £1.29 and is also in a 3 for 2 promotion at the moment. It's not a bad price for a shampoo but as it's not a best performing shampoo for me, it's probably a false economy to stock up on this one.
Final word
As a shampoo this performs OK but I wished that it would last a bit longer. I never achieved squeaky clean with this shampoo which probably means that it is not as drying and kinder on the hair. I don't think a repurchase will be on the cards as I wasn't that impressed so will only say it's around the two dooyoo stars mark.
Summary: Not a squeaky clean shampoo
