Advantages: Smells nice, cheap, works well

Disadvantages: doesn't get rid of frizz completely

My hair gets a lot of abuse from hair straighteners, colourants and being regularly heaped with lots of products, so I like to give it a weekly treat in the form of a hair mask. I chose Boots Ingredients Honey and Jojoba intensive hair mask, because firstly it said that it was especially for dry, damaged hair (which I have) and secondly because it was very cheap!

The hair mask comes in a clear tub with a screw top lid. There is a picture of a slice of honeycomb topped with a jojoba leaf (or at least what I assume is a jojoba leaf - can't claim to have actually seen one before!) on the top and side of the tub. The packaging is simple, but doesn't look obviously cheap.

The aim of this product according to the packaging is to: 'smooth frizz, leaving hair soft, shiny, tangle free and deeply moisturised.'

The mask itself is a very pale yellow colour and has a pearly sort of sheen to it. The smell of this product is absolutely gorgeous. It has a very sweet honey scent, yet is not at all sickly.

To use, you simply smooth through the hair after shampooing and leave on for five minutes before rinsing. Some hair masks only need to be left on for two or three minutes before rinsing, and I must admit, I do prefer those, because although five minutes doesn't sound like a lot, it can seem quite a long time when you're sitting in the bath with nothing to do!

After rinsing my hair instantly feels detangled and smooth, and the sweet honey scent really lingers on the hair for a long time.

The results I've had from this product have been really impressive for something so cheap. The first and most obvious change is that this really adds moisture to my hair, and therefore it looks a lot healthier. I must note, that despite adding moisture, it doesn't make it look greasy at all.

Secondly it feels really soft. I've been using Redken's All Soft Velvet Whip which is a leave-in treatment to make hair feel soft, however after using this product, I've no need to use that as well, as it leaves my hair feeling so lovely and soft all by itself.

It does seem to tame frizz a little, but only slightly - I still need to add serum to make my hair look completely frizz-free, but for those of you who only have mildly frizzy hair, this would probably be excellent.

A 350ml tub of this costs just £1.99 from Boots. This is extremely good value. My hair is long and thick, yet I've had at least six uses out of this pot so far and there's still around half left.

Overall, I have been very impressed with this. I must admit I didn't have high expectations for it, but it's one of the best budget hair masks I've found so far, and if you have dry hair, I would definitely recommend giving it a go.

Summary: A surprisingly lovely intensive conditioner
