“ Brand: Boots / Texture: Fluid / Type: Hair Mask / What it does: Hydrates, „
I bought this hair mask from Boots on my dinner hour from work recently, I was in Boots simply to pick up some paracetamol tablets for a niggling headache but ended up browsing the isles and buying bits and bobs thats I didn't really need to be honest. This particular product is a hair mask from a brand called natural collection which is like Boots' own brand. The main reason for purchase was because I had just died my hair for the first time and my hair was falling out at an alarming rate especially when I was washing it or brushing it I had hoped that the hair mask would help to revive my hair back to it's original state. The hair mask comes in a plastic pouch which is similar to what face masks come in. My hair is short so I only bought one as I thought that one pouch would be enough to cover my entire hair. The packet is baby blue with an image of a woman having seemingly applied the hair mask. The decoration on the packet is not very eyecatching but this is to be expected of such a cheap product. The hair mask is white and is quite thin in texture. Conditioner is much thicker than this particular potion. The smell is light and refreshing but not very prominent especially when it has been washed out. To apply the mask I had to wash my hair, then pat it dry with a towel and apply the mask evenly throughout the hair. I then left the mask to soak into the hair for about 3 minutes and then rinsed it with hot, clean water. Afterwards I noticed that my hair was shinier than it had been before using the mask but this was the only noticeable difference. But this product was only £1 so I didn't have high expectations.
I picked up this product on a whim as the Natural Collection range was on special offer buy 3 for the price of 2 at the time. Natural Collection is made by Boots and is available exclusively at Boots high street stores or online at www.boots.com. This Samphire and Sea Minerals Hydrating Hair Mask costs £1.01 for a 10ml sachet. Product description: There's an ocean of moisture for your hair in this hydrating mask, containing samphire and sea minerals to help target dry areas and leave hair smoothed, detangled and noticeably softer. This hair mask comes in a 10ml size sachet which is a handy compact size just right for one application, and also convenient to pack if you are travelling or have limited space. The packaging is nice enough but doesn't really stand out. It has a blue coloured background with the image of a woman with her head wrapped in a towel...not the most appealing of images but the style is pretty in its simplicity. I found it easy to open the sachet as it simply tears across the top, although I normally do this before getting in the bath or shower just to be on the safe side to avoid any awkward fumbling with wet hands. Recommended directions for use: Apply evenly after shampooing to damp / towel dried hair, leave for 2 minutes and rinse thoroughly. The hair mask is quite thin compared to similar deep conditioning treatments, and it was easy to squeeze out of the sachet and spread it over the hair. The conditioner itself is an ordinary white colour and looks like you would expect from this type of product. It has a faint scent that I was unable to work out, but I guess this would be the way that samphire and sea minerals smell! Out of curiosity I did decide to look up what "samphire" actually is, and this is what Wikipedia has to say: "Samphire is a name given to a number of very different edible plants that happen to grow in coastal areas.". So there you go. Looking at the accompanying photo, I am glad that I was putting this on my hair and not eating it! To use, I normally just apply conditioners to the lengths of my hair, from the nape of my neck down to the tips. This stops it from causing my roots to become greasy quickly, and ensures that my dry ends get the treatment they need without being overly weighed down. I had enough left to smooth a small amount over my scalp and roots and thanks to the thin texture the hair mask did not seem too heavy. I left the hair mask on for 2 minutes as recommended, and then made sure it was fully rinsed out with cold water. As well as having fine thin hair, I am also prone to breakage, split ends and dryness along with greasy roots...nice mix! I usually need a quite strong conditioner to stop my ends from drying out and going straw-like. I tend to think of Natural Collection as being quite fun and nicely scented products, but not really hugely effective on my skin or hair. Little did I know that this ordinary looking sachet was about to drastically change my opinion! I used this hair mask straight after shampooing, without using a conditioner first. The effect that it had upon my hair was nothing short of dramatic. I was literally amazed to see how well it had worked with my hair type, and after only one application my hair felt soft, silky, smooth and had a more shiny healthy look to it. I was amazed that my hair felt nourished but the hair mask had not overloaded my fine hair, and it had a lovely amount of movement to it afterwards. I was swishing my hair about like I was in a hair care advert! Since the first miraculous use of this product, I have bought the sachets again and use them to boost the condition of my hair as needed. I like to use these hair mask treatments both before and after I dye my hair at home, as this helps to get it into a good condition and seems to minimise any drying effects from using hair chemicals for colouring. I am blown away that this simple looking Natural Collection product has had such a dramatic impact on the condition of my hair, and it is definitely the best find I've come across in ages. I really love this conditioning hair mask and think it works incredibly well to give soft and manageable hair. It is a good price for a one off treatment and I will definitely continue to buy this again as my hair needs all the help it can get!
