A great travel shampoo at a reasonable price

When I'm going on holiday I like to keep my luggage to a minimum and always keep an eye out for 2 in 1 shampoos in slightly smaller bottles (though I find that actual 'travel sizes' aren't big enough for me as I wash my hair twice a day on holiday). So I was really pleased to find the 250ml tube of Boots Sun, Swim & Gym 3 in 1 Shampoo in my local Boots, which is quite a big one (Trafford Centre Manchester). You can also click and collect for free online or pay a P&P charge to have it delivered. Boots Sun, Swim & Gym 3 in 1 Shampoo costs £3.05 for a top down tube which I think is reasonable as this is ideally suited to going on holiday (or, as the name suggests, going to the gym) as the reason this is 3 in 1 is that it cleanse your hair of chlorine (from the pool) and salt (from the sea, or sea air, I find my hair can get a bit drier on the coast). The idea behind Boots Sun, Swim & Gym 3 in 1 Shampoo is that it is a cleansing shampoo and a rehydrating conditioner. I can usually tell if an all in one shampoo is any good because after I have towel dried my hair, it is easy to brush. If it's tangled and difficult to brush I don't rate the conditioning qualities at all. Luckily Boots Sun, Swim & Gym 3 in 1 Shampoo not only washes well with plenty of lather it also keeps my hair soft and easy to manage, meaning that even after a few days of sunbathing and swimming in the pool and the sea, my hair is soft and shiny and very easy to style. I really liked Boots Sun, Swim & Gym 3 in 1 Shampoo and I am glad I paid a touch more for it - at home I tend to go with whatever is on offer or in the Pound shop (!!) but it really is important to look after your hair that bit more on holiday with everything it's exposed to. One thing I need to note is that initially on picking up the tube and seeing Sun on it I thought it might have had an SPF or sun barrier / protectant in it, it does not, though I know these exist as I had a spray in one from the hairdressers some time ago so it is slightly confusing. It might be better just called 'swim and gym' or similar, but it's a minor niggle. Overall then I am very happy with Boots Sun, Swim & Gym 3 in 1 Shampoo and will give it 4/5, I have plenty left which I have saved for my next travels, if you're going away anywhere or are a regular swimmer then I do recommend it as it does keep your hair clean and soft despite the chlorine / salt.

        a good holiday shampoo

Over the summer I visited Salou in Spain, before I went I decided that I would be prepared and took a trip to Boots to buy sun cream. While I was there I came across the Boots Sun, Swim and Gym range and decided to pick up the shampoo to keep my hair in good condition as chlorine, sand and the sun can be very damaging to my hair and leave it looking dry and frizzy. Application You wash your hair with this shampoo as you would any other shampoo, I lather rinsed and repeated it every night or when I had been in the pool. I do not usually wash my hair twice at once as I think it is a waste of time, but I found that with this shampoo, the second time really helped my hair feel soft and healthy and less sandy or full of chlorine. Results This shampoo really helped to take the chlorine out of my hair, it went from feeling dry and tight, to feeling light, healthy and soft again. I really hate the feeling of sandy or chlorine soaked hair, but this shampoo really did its job and removed them from my hair quite well. One disadvantage about this shampoo is that it does not really do much for humidity, my hair would still puff up with the heat, so I went and bought a leave in conditioner after a few days and this helped loads. Next time I travel I will definitely buy a leave in conditioner to use with this shampoo, just to give my hair a bit of extra condition. This shampoo doesn't really have a very luxurious smell, it smells quite chemical or medical, it is hard to put my finger on it. However if you use a nice conditioner after wards, your hair will smell nice again anyway and putting up with the smell is worth it for getting rid of and preventing chlorine damage to your hair. Price and Availability You can buy this shampoo in Boots for £3, that bought a 250ml bottle that was more than enough for me to use on my week holiday. I didn't finish the whole bottle but decided to leave it in the hotel as my luggage was almost overweight with presents and different things travelling home. I think that £3 was quite a good price for this shampoo and I will definitely purchase it again if I am going on holidays somewhere with lots of pools and beaches. Overall I was quite impressed with this shampoo, it does not smell great and it you need to condition your hair after using it to keep humidity at bay, but it does do its job and helps prevent chlorine damage to your hair. I will definitely buy this shampoo again and would recommend it, however if I found a better smelling Sun, Sea and Swim shampoo, I probably would give it a go, so I am not that loyal to the brand. Overall I would give this shampoo 3 out of 5 stars because it does the job, but it isn't quite luxury. *also on ciao under lorrainek90

          Handy and effective

I first stumbled across this product a year or two ago when I popped into Boots for some shampoo cum conditioner to keep in my sports bag. It looked handy and tailor made for use after swimming so I decided to give it a try. Since then I have washed my hair with it after almost every visit to the pool. It does a good job of getting rid of the chlorine and my hair seems to be healthy and pretty much undamaged given the frequency of my swimming sessions and compared to before I discovered 3in1. I observed similar results when I took it on a beach holiday. The product is not actually advertised as containing conditioner but I find that I do not need to use this as well as the 3in1 leaves my hair sufficiently soft and manageable. I do not wash my hair exclusively with 3in1 as I use other shampoos and conditioners at home. Also the 3in1 is advertised as a body wash but I do not use it for this purpose and so cannot comment on it. All in all I would recommend this product as it not only works well but is a handy size for keeping in sports bags.
