Advantages: soft hair, fresh smell
Disadvantages: price
I purchased a bottle of Tricologie nourishing shampoo for no other reason than there were 100 extra advantage points on offer at Boots! It was a shampoo I had always fancied trying, but the £4.99 price tag had previously put me off (okay, I admit it – I’m cheap!) However the lure of extra points was sufficient to entice me into making the purchase. The bottle looks very good in the bathroom – clear plastic with a silver cap and bottom. The cap has a blue circular flip up lid – you push down the back and the front flips up. A bit stiff on first use, but it became easier as it was used more. The shampoo is a pale purple in colour and there is a blue plastic wavy structure running down the inside of the bottle. I’m sure it has no use other than to enhance the appearance of the bottle. So, what do you get for your hard-earned cash? The blurb on the bottle states that ‘The haircare experts at Boots have identified all the factors that affect your hair and developed individually tailored solutions that are proven to give you the best hair you’ve ever experienced’. Sound good so far? There’s more. ‘This shampoo, with a unique complex to protect against pollution, sun damage and heat styling, will cleanse, nourish and replace lost moisture, leaving your hair shinier, smoother and protected. It also contains a combination of ingredients that will reduce colour fade, strengthen and prevent hard water from dulling the hair’. Sounds even better now. What does this shampoo contain to achieve all these wonderful claims? There is an extremely long list of ingredients that I shall put at the end of the opinion for anyone interested. And does it work? Well, I have tried the shampoo out a few times and my verdict is yes! The first time I used it, I was pleasantly surprised. The shampoo has a very pleasant smell – I can’t put my finger on it exactly but it is quite a fresh
smell, not chemically at all. The shampoo lathered up well and when I rinsed my hair felt extremely clean. I don’t have the recommended Tricologie conditioner to complement the shampoo, so used my normal one, but this didn’t seem to affect the effects of the shampoo. Once my hair was dry it felt much softer than usual and even had a slight shine to it. I have used it a few more times since and the results have been the same – very clean-feeling, soft, shiny hair. I even used it after subjecting my hair to a gallon of hairspray the previous evening and it coped well with the additional work. As well as the nourishing shampoo that I purchased, the Tricologie range of shampoos also includes Rejuvenating Anti-dandruff Balancing Deep cleansing Dry scalp Other Tricologie products such as conditioners and styling products are also available. The range is available from larger Boots stores as well as from www.wellbeing.com I am very pleased with the shampoo, but the price of it does put me off. True, you only need a small amount so it should last a while, but almost £5 for a bottle of shampoo is more than my normal budget. However, if it was on offer I would certainly stock up on some more bottles. So, all in all, a good shampoo for an indulgence but probably best bought on special offer. And finally, that list of ingredients for anyone interested. - 01/11/01 You make a convincing case for giving it a try. I'd pay this if I thought the shampoo was good. Nice op - Kay |
