Advantages: easy to use, effective
Disadvantages: none
I am always on the look out for hair products that are easy to use and will improve the condition of my hair at the same time. As a busy, part time working mum I really don't have a lot of time to spend on my hair, so when I discovered Botanics Leave-in Volumising conditioner I was really pleased.
I am not a great fan of conditioners that you use in the shower, apply while your hair is wet and then have to rinse out. I always find that I'm in such a hurry, that I leave bits in and then you have this residue on your hair all day. You don't have to worry about all that with this leave in conditioner!
You use this conditioner after you have shampooed your hair and towelled it dry. You then spray it on to your hair quite liberally and then just comb through. I have fairly long thickish hair and I have to say that this works a dream. As soon as I have used it, I can run a comb or a brush through my washed hair with virtually no resistance at all. I then either leave my hair to dry naturally or, if I have time, do a bit of styling. This is also where you notice an effect, because my hair certainly seems to have more volume when I do style it - so much so that I really don't need to use any additional mousse or styling spray.
The spray itself feels very light. It is a very clear, grassy green colour which makes it look very natural and good for you. It apparently contains Butcher's Broom which has natural astringent properties. I didn't know this before, but these properties counter balance any build-up in the hair. This in turn gives your hair more vitality and volume - what more could you want? On the bottle it actually says that it uses plant extracts at levels which really work, and as far as this product is concerned, it is true!
Also, in my experience the spray is very long lasting. Even though the directions say to spray quite generously, which I do, there is still plenty left in my bottle. In fact I started using this at the beginning of May, and I have only used about three quarters of my first 250ml spray (and that is using it pretty much on a daily basis!). As it sells in Boots at £2.99 for the 250ml spray I think that is really good value.
All of the Botanics range of products is exclusive to Boots but all of the extracts are authenticated by Kew Royal Botanic Gardens so you feel that that definitely gives it some credence! There is the usual warning about avoiding contact with eyes and to rinse immediately in cold water if you do. There is a little icon at the bottom of the label that tells you that you can be using it for up to twenty four months so it has a very long shelf life if you only want to use it occasionally. I did look on the label also to try to discover whether the actual spray container was made from recycled material but there is no indication of this. You would expect, a product that uses natural ingredients would attempt to care for the environment though.
Overall, I do think that this is a fantastic product and I am so glad that I discovered it! It is very easy to use and also pretty economical. Best of all though, it makes my otherwise somewhat lacklustre hair feel so good - and as it promises on the label, I now have more volume and vitality - sadly that only applies to my hair!
Summary: My hair feels great!
