Advantages: quick to heat up and no need for electricity
Disadvantages: get very hot, can burn you
I have always wanted what I havent got and my hair is no exception. Its poker straight and I want curls so I have been a bit of a tongs girl for most of my adult life.
Ive had more pairs of tongs than I would care to list but my favourite by far are my braun c20's. These tongs are run on butain gas via a cylinder that you insert into the bottom of the tongs. The beauty then is that you arent plugged in so you can use these tongs anywhere. They are extremely versatile. From the time that you click the button to ignite the gas they take less than a minute to be hot enough to use which is brilliant. The downside is that they get hot and I mean really hot. I have sustained many a burn when ive caught them on my face or head and have had the odd burn mark as a result which is not good. Because of their high heat they create a really strong curl without you needing to hold the hair in the tong for very long so its quick to create your style.
These tongs are great to take away on holiday as you dont have to worry about travel plugs etc. You do however have to ensure you take enough gas cartridges which must be packed in your case on the airplane. The cartridges are expensive, between £7/8 for four but they do last for a long time. These tongs are temperamental when they start to get old and ive never had a pair that has lasted longer than about 18 months. Notwithstanding I love these tongs and wouldnt be without them. If youre a would be curly girl they are definately worth a try.
Summary: a great beauty product
