Bristows Ultra Hold Hairspray
Advantages: Kept my style in windy conditions
Disadvantages: It felt like cardboard
We had a relative come to stay the other week and when she went home she left behind a can of this Bristows Ultra Hold hairspray behind. I rang her to tell her and she said to use it up if we could as she didn't like it that much so I thought I would give it a try to see why she doesn't like it and whether it would suit my hairstyle.
I have short hair that I like to blow dry up so that it gives my hair some volume and body. Other wise it goes really flat and limp. My hair seems to have got thinner over the last few years and its a job now to get any volume into it without any hair gel in it but I thought I would try this out seeing as it says ultra hold.
I washed my hair and then blow dried it without putting the normal gel in it. It was quite hard going getting it to blow up to my normal style so once I had it just about there I gave it a quick spray with the can.
Immediately after spraying my hair felt quite damp for a while where the spray was on it so I had to keep still to let it dry without going out of style. Once it had dried off I looked in the mirror and my style was still there. I felt my hair again and found that it had gone quite stiff in places and it was really stuck together, no wonder it wasn't moving about. I thought I would give it a go though, no point in wasting it and I was waiting to go out so no time to re wash my hair.
When I got outside it was quite windy out and I could feel the wind blowing my hair but it didn't feel like it was blowing odd hairs about all over my face, it felt like I had a hat on. When I got up the town I had to have a look in a shop window to make sure it wasn't all standing up on end or anything but it still looked the same as when I had first sprayed it.
After a long day shopping I went home, hair style still in place. I decided to give it a good brush to get some of the spray out before I went to bed but do you think I could get a brush into it? It was solid in places and the brush was just pulling like mad and hurting me, practically pulling my hair out of the roots. I had to go and wash it out in the end as I didn't fancy sleeping on it or who knows what I would have got up looking like and my Other Half might have got a fright.
When I first wet my hair it started to drip a bit into my eyes and it really did sting so I am thinking that if I had worn the spray on my hair in the rain I would have had a problem seeing where I was going.
I didn't throw the can out, I thought it might come in handy if its really windy out and I want to go somewhere where it doesn't matter if I have cardboard hair style but I haven't used it again yet.
I don't know where this can was bought but it is currently on sale on Amazon for £1.45 for a 300ml can.
