“ Brand: Charles Worthington / Type: Hair Shampoo „
At the beginning of April, I take a box full of toiletries down to our static van to last me through the summer so I don't have to worry about running out during the season.
I purchased from home bargains and I think it cost me in the region of about £2 for a 250ml bottle which I think is good price. The bottle is quite a unique shape; it looks a bit like a bottle which has been squashed to give it quite a wide yet thin look. The bottle is a pale chocolate colour and has the product name written in white, black and silver lettering, the lid is one which is opened by depressing one side of the bottle.
The shampoo is see through and a warm brown colour and has a nice fresh and floral fragrance to it which I find lingers in the bathroom for a good few hours after using and even better, my hair smells lovely for most of the day.
I have used Charles Worthington products before, mainly aimed at frizz and always been pleased with the results, so I was really looking forward to using this however it wasn't as good as I anticipated.
The biggest downside for me if the amount I seem to use, normally, I always run out of the bottle of shampoo before I do that one eh conditioner however with this one, I have used two full bottles of shampoo and one bottle of conditioner. Normally, a 50 pence piece amount of shampoo would suffice to give my shoulder length hair a good clean. The first time I used this, I set about using this amount and was immediately concerned about the lack of lather this produced, so much so that I felt the need to apply more to make my hair feel 'clean'.
I tend to wash my hair daily, especially when at the coast so the following day, I washed my hair using the same shampoo but found the same problem, I needed to use nearly double the amount of shampoo to get my hair to lather the way it would normally. Despite adding extra shampoo, I find that this rinses really well, and does take longer than usual,
I do find that despite the washing issues, once I have styled my hair, it does actually look nice and clean, my hair tends to look dry due to the amount of straightening I do however I found that this shampoo actually does what it boasts and adds that extra shine and looks quite glossy.
Overall, while a do think this adds a shine to my hair, I don't like the fact that it doesn't lather very easily and therefore the shampoo only gets 3 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
I was lucky enough to purchase this shampoo when it was reduced to £1 in Boots- a bargain I know as I think it retails at around £5.
The packaging is a brown colour- to indicate that the shampoo is specifically for brunette hair (I think there is an equivalent blonde shampoo that is in a yellow bottle) and the brand and shampoo name are emblazoned across the front in big letters. It is quite an odd shaped bottle- it is fat to the eye from the front but narrow from the side- it reminds me of a larger, more stable version of a sachet- but don't worry it stands up. The product comes from the bottle by flipping a button and the dispenser pops up. It comes out of the bottle fairly easily with a little bit of squeezing. What is nice about this bottle shape is that when you get to the end of the bottle, it can be stood on its head so you can get all the product out.
The shampoo is a glossy brown colour and it a quite pleasant smell. I find that the smell reminds me of having my hair washed in a salon- it has a professional smell/feel to it. I think you need quite a bit of the product to get a good lather to it- I have read in magazines that you should only use a 50p size amount of shampoo- well in those sort of times I have around £1.50's worth of dollops to feel like I'm washing my hair properly!
The shampoo claims to wash away daily impurities to reveal brunette tones, caring for the colour whilst also enhancing and protecting it. It is supposed to smooth the hair cuticle's to give a soft shiny finish. I have found that, as a frequent hair dyer, that the colour has seemed to last longer than when I have used other shampoos and that my hair appears to be nice and shiny...so it does what it says on the tin!
Overall, if you are looking for a professional product that makes your dyed colour last then go for this.
I was going on holiday for a week and was looking for travel sized colour protect shampoo and conditioner. I have before taken any kind of shampoo away with me but found that my colour tended to fade much faster which is definitely not what i am looking for. So the hunt was on to find a travel sized colour protect shampoo and conditioner, I thought this would be easy enough to find but was proved wrong and eventually i found the Charles Worthington Colour Bright Shampoo for Brunettes in Boots.
It is the perfect size for a week at 75ml and is part of the Charles Worthington Results Takeaways range available from Boots.
The Shampoo is enriched with moisturising rice protein and antioxidant white tea. The colour bright formula for brunettes helps to wash away daily impurities to uncover rich brunette tones, it also helps to enhance and care for your brunette hair with the unique Colour Protect System. It protects hair from colour fade and has an added UV filter (this is exactly what I was looking for) and to top it all the shampoo is supposed to smooth the hair's cuticle with a low ph formula giving a soft shiny finish and healthy looking hair.
The shampoo is a clear gel with a hint of golden brown in it, you don't need a lot and get a nice lather. My hair before felt particularly dry and the shampoo seemed to get to work quickly on that. The fragrance was quite subtle without being too overpowering.
I used this in combination with the Charles Worthington Colour Bright Conditioner for Brunettes and they both left my hair feeling and looking healthy with a good shine and lustre. And the all important fact is that my colour didn't fade like before, the moral of this story is that to make sure you use a colour protect shampoo at all times (it is protect for a reason) and particularly if you are in strong sunlight.
This shampoo is suited for all shades of brunetts whether you are natural or colour treated. I believe they also do a similar range for blondes.
The shampoo costs £1.95 for the 75ml takeaway (but watch out for offers in boots they often do 3 for 2 on this range). It is also available in the 250ml standard size for £4.55.
I would certainly recommend this shampoo it kept my hair and colour in tip top condition and did exactly what is said on the bottle. It gave me shiny healthy looking and feeling hair - what more could a girl want.!
This is a review of the Charles Worthington, colour results, Brunette Shampoo. The bottle claims that it is for 'super shiny-lustruous brunettes'. First of, we can start with saying that this was not my experience. The Shampoo was fairly pricey, usually about £5.99 a bottle, so I was expecting it to help my locks look fantastic. After using, my hair is limp, uninteresting and volumeless, I have got better results from cheap Pantenne! It is no where near the 'salon-shine' which it claims. On the upside it does contain UV Filter (which is something I always look for), however this is not enough to redeem it for me. I would say I have fairly normal hair, it is never greasy, so this cannot be the cause of the problem. This is the only shampoo which has had this effect on my hair.
Regarding the bottle, it is designed to look good on the supermarket shelf, but it is not practical. I had a lot of trouble squeezing out the last drops this morning, and had to leave quite a lot in the bottle (I will try and wash this out later)! The bottle tends to go bendy and generally looks tatty after you have used half the bottle.
I will not be buying this product again.
My nan has recently been to Tenerife and on her way back she bought some of this from the duty free just so I could try it and review. She didn't realise it said for brunettes- does it matter?
Charles Worthington is very famous for his hair care ranges. I have been using mant of his products since I was a teen!
So did it work?
We only got the 75ml size but this does come in 250ml bottles too. It is in a small bottle a sort of oval looking shape with a flip cap with the hole underneath to get the shampoo out!
On the front there is the logos of the product and the hair is is meant to be for. My nan obviously didn't see this! It is in small font though bless her.
On the back there is some information on whatthe shampoo is meant to do and how you are meant to use this.
Price and Place
This can be brought from some supermarkets and health and beauty stores. It is around £3.00 for the 250ml bottle which lasts quite a long time.
This is Charles Worthington results colour bright shampoo for BRUNTETTES! It has rice protein in it to moisturise your hair. It hekps to wash away impurities to leave seek and shiny hair!
This smells great, even though my hair is blonde, it still left it looking nice and sleek. I would use it again but only the Blonde vesion because I don't want my hair to go dull. 5/5 From me.
~~ Introduction ~~
I decided to dye my hair again recently. My hair is naturally fairly dark but I fancied going just that little bit darker. I had dyed my hair about a month previous but the dye was rubbish and the home brand shampoo and conditioners i was using were just as ineffective, before I knew it the dye had washed out and I was left with dryer hair as the only proof I had in fact coloured it at some point. I figured I'd do it right this time. I spent hours choosing a dye (slight exaggeration, more like quite a few minutes but it felt like hours) and bought myself some fancy shampoo and conditioner in the form of Charles Worthington's Colour Bright shampoo which promised to keep my brown locks looking good and the dye from dying out.
~~ The man behind the hair and the hair behind the man! ~~
With over 20 years in the hairdressing industry Charles Worthington has certainly made a name for himself. With many awards for hairdressing under his belt including best hairdresser of the year twice, he certainly is a force to be reckoned with in the lucrative world of hairdressing. When it comes to getting noticed Charles has never shied away from the public or the media, plastering his name and face across countless hair care and styling products to drum up interest and tempt the consumer into parting with their pennies. In the not too distant past he opened up his very own House Of Charles Worthington, a luxury hair salon located in the heart of Covent Garden in a striking Georgian townhouse with over five stories of hair pampering to be had it's no wonder it has become hairdressing destination to the rich and famous including Britain's very own gorgeous Jodie Kidd. With all the hype the price tag certainly doesn't come cheap but for the rest of us there's some affordable and exciting products to be had.
Whilst I may only ever dream of an afternoon of fuss from the king of hair himself I can afford the smaller treats every now and then and the Charles Worthington products are generally within a reasonable price bracket. So when I saw his new range of Salon Shine Results Colour Bright shampoo I figured if it's good enough for Jodie Kidd then it's more than good enough for Jodie Stokes.
~~ What's it all about? ~~
Created and enriched with moisturising rice protein and antioxidant white tea, Colour Bright shampoo for brunette hair has been formulated to help wash away daily impurities to uncover rich brunette tones from root to tip, to gently cleanse whilst the unique colour protect system cares for and enhances all shades of brunette hair, to protect fade with added UV filter and to smooth the hairs cuticle with low PH formula, giving a soft, shiny finish.
~~ Packaging ~~
This lovely shampoo comes in a 250ml plastic container, rich brown in colour reflecting the hair colour of its target market. The container is fairly contempory in design in the form of a flat stand up square with bevelled edges. It should be noted that comfortable hand grip has been sacrificed in favour of style here which can be a little frustrating when you have your head hung over the bath but it's only a minor gripe.
~~ Cost and availability ~~
This product is priced at £4.25 on the Charles Worthington website though of course will vary according to where you shop. I personally think that £4.25 is quite a lot when you consider that you are likely to want to buy the accompanying conditioner, though having said that most branded shampoos are around the same price so it isn't beyond acceptability. I bought mine from Superdrug after spying the product at 2 for the humble price of £6, the great thing about Charles Worthington's products is that you can usually find them on special offer and grab yourself a bargin.
Because Charles Worthington products are so sort after you shouldn't have any problems getting hold of them and finding a bargin shouldn't be too much of a problem either. You can find them in Superdrug, Boots, a number of supermarkets and of course online.
~~ So what's the overall verdict? ~~
Once you have rejoiced at finding yourself yet another Charles Worthington bargin its time to quit staring at its very eye catching bottle and time to test.
The first thing I noticed about this shampoo is the all too familiar scent of the Charles Worthington products. I find they all seem to have a really nice perfumery scent to them not too dissimilar to Calvin Kleins CK1 unisex perfume which is one of those perfumes that most will enjoy and of course is generally pleasing to both the sexes. Whilst the scent isn't as prevalent in this product as some of Charles Worthington's other ones it is still there very subtly appeasing to the nose and lingers on even when the hair is dried.
Although the shampoo can be a little more frustrating to get out of the bottle than other shampoos, you really don't need very much for a really good lather. The colour of the shampoo is rather attractive to; it looks like really sweet treacle and is around the same consistency without the stickiness. I find that I only really need around a hazelnut sized amount to fully coat my thick shoulder length hair which means the bottle lasts.
One thing I really like about this shampoo is that once I have lathered up the mixture I can comb my fingers through my hair without pulling out large chunks like I do when using other shampoos, this helps me get a nice even coating and keeps my head happy. I have to say that the amount of dirt that comes out when using this shampoo is amazing, I didn't even realise I had that much muck on my head. You really feel super clean using this shampoo.
Because my hair is fairly thick I do have a habit of ending up with some unwanted frizzyness, because the shampoo is light and smoothing I find my hair is far less frizzy even when left to dry naturally.
As I have mentioned previously I have recently dyed my hair a little darker and have found this shampoo to be really effective at maintaining the brightness and vibrancy of the dye that is usually so easily lost over time. I'm convinced that the colour would have become very dull if it hadn't been for the use of this product, like it has done in the past when I have used less affective shampoos. I have also found that the slightest bit of sun on hair that is dyed dark seems to add a lot of unwanted redness to the hair and although I have been in the sun everyday in order to walk my dogs I really feel that the UV filters in this product have prevented any colour change or indeed dryness.
Although I always use a conditioner after shampooing my hair I don't think I would be too annoyed at only being able to wash my hair with the shampoo, my hair does feel really soft and exceptionally clean after using this.
After using the shampoo my hair is noticeably more manageable and when blow dried it appears shiny and soft. Though I have had softer hair in the past using other products, you could argue that is the price you pay for dying your hair.
All in all this is a fabulous product and a clear 10 out of ten when used in conjunction with the accompanying conditioner, plus it adds a bit of affordable glamour to your life.
