I have naturally wavy hair which has a soft curl. It's easy to go all out curly wihtout any product help or blowdrying. If I want to achieve a straight style, however, it's a little tougher. Not only is it essential that I blowdry my hair until it's totally dry but I also need to apply a straightening product to ease out the kinks of my curls! This Charles Worthington Dream Hair 'Flawless Finish Straightening Balm' is the latest product I have used.
The Dream Hair Collection is based around the idea of products invented to help you achieve your ideal or fantasy hairstyle. The products give "superior performance" whilst allowing us to partake in "exquisite indulgence" by allowing us to realise our hairstyle dreams! It's basically like the brand are inviting us to discover our inner Godessess! The products are heralded as high quality luxury items whose powerful formulas will turn us all into princesses! Charles Worthington claim this particular product helps to "calm frizz, relax kinks and protect against heat damage" and also notes it awards added benefits of shine and 'super-smoothness'. It contains a mixture of silk and pearl extracts which apparantly add moisture to the hair.
The product comes in a squeezy tube which contains 150mls or 5.07 fluid ounces of liquid balm. The back of the tube is printed with consumer information including ingredients, self-praise about the brand, the product benefits and instructions for use.
To use this you need to squeeze a small amount of the product into your palm and work it through damp, newly washed hair from root to tip.You should then comb it through and, as per the directions for use, style as you normally would. In my case, I have to style as I normally would NOT - as using this balm and then drying naturally (my regular method) obviously would have no effect! I need to use a hairdryer and pull my hair straight as I dry. A massive benefit of this balm is that it has heat-protection qualities which a lot of other straighening creams do not have. So I can blast my hair with hot air knowing the balm is helping to lock moisture into the hair shaft. During the drying process my hair feels easy to control and the heat does not make the balm tacky.
The balm has a clear, glue-like consistency and is quite stiff like a gel, rather than being too runny. It does not feel sticky at all which is a good thing as often sticky products can make working through the hair more difficult. This just melts into the hair. It's easy to work through my whole head of hair. The balm has a very sophisticated fragrance. It is a little musky but subtle and mature. It smells clean, fresh and feminine.
When my hair has dried I can really see the influence of this product in helping to achieve a straighter style. My hair feels a little softer but more sleek. Also any frizz or damaged parts of my hair look more tamed. I would not say that my hair is any shinier than usual though. The balm doesn't leave any chalky residue on the hair. I do usually feel that I need to wash my hair more often than I normally would if I use this product though as it tends to thicken hair a little bit.
Overall this is a great and helpful product that helps me to turn my slightly frizzy, wavy hair into neat, straight lines! Reccomended for those who like to be straight, not curly!
This product currently costs £5.49 at Boots the chemist.
