      Very helpful

      Pretty pointless

      Reasons for buying

I picked this Charles Worthington volumising blow-dry spray up from Boots in my quest to find the perfect product to boost hair. At the time of purchasing, this was on offer and cost around £5, but this usually retails around £6 for 200ml.

      Using the product

The product directs you to spray the liquid evenly into the roots and comb through the hair, and then blow dry. The bottle is easy to hold and the spray nozzle applies the liquid evenly to the roots, about 4 sprays is necessary for a full application to the head, so the product lasts a long time.

The fragrance of the product is immediately evident, it has an expensive, masculine fragrance quite similar to one of the Hugo Boss aftershaves, which I do love! When the liquid is sprayed onto the roots it feels fine, but after combing through the hands to feel a little sticky. Once head is applied to the hair and I start to blow dry, this is when I notice a slightly tacky residue throughout my hair, which is a little unpleasant and my hair at this point feels a little unclean.

Once I have blow dried my hair I can't honestly notice any difference in volume compared to when I haven't used a styling product. Apart from the fragrance and fact that my hair and scalp feel a little sticky from the product, I wouldn't otherwise know I had anything in my hair. The slight residue does make my hair feel drier than usual, however. Luckily my hair doesn't get greasy and quicker than it normally does when I have used this and it doesn't seem to give or take away any shine. After using this, I am pleased to say that it is easy to wash out and I haven't noticed any product build up on my hair.

This product is pointless as it doesn't add volume or create extra shine or anything else for that matter, apart from smell nice! I was thoroughly disappointed with this Charles Worthington product, he has a good reputation as a hairdresser, so I expected his products to live up to this standard, but unfortunately this doesn't. I would not recommend this and I am sad I wasted my fiver on this tosh!

Alas my quest for the miracle volume boost product continues, in the meantime I shall be using this to fragrance my flat!

      1 star for the smell
