Advantages: Good value

Disadvantages: You may not like it the first time you use it.

I have naturally curly hair, but after years of straightening and bleaching my hair I have to actually curl my hair, with heat or rollers to wear it curly. Otherwise I end up with a big frizzy mess.

After watching the 'This Morning' stylist to create some really nice natural waves on some lucky lady using a salt spray, and my impending holiday to Ibiza coming soon, I thought what better way to create a beach look than using this product.

I went to Boots and found the Charles Worthington Front Row Rough and Tousled Salt Spray, there was a full size one for £5.99 and a mini trial size for £2.49. I purchased the trial size which contains 50ml.

The bottle is small and would fit in a handbag or my hand luggage. It has a pump action spray and the directions were to use on the mid length of the hair (NOT the roots), on damp hair, and teasing the hair to bring out the natural waves. It did state it could also be used on dry hair. I used it on dry hair that afternoon and found it made a very slight curl, and left a 'gritty' feeling on my hair. The gritty feeling was not very noticeable or unpleasant, but you could definitely feel something there. I really like the smell of the product as it is very clean, none chemical smelling. More like a hair perfume than a styling product.

Not to be defeated (I was going to have the beach look for Ibiza no matter what it took!), I tried the product when I next washed my hair. I sprayed it onto seperate sections of my hair after towel drying and let it dry naturally whilst winding sections of hair around my fingers to encourage the curl. I have quite thick hair so it took a while to dry. The result was my hair was curly, but as I hadn't used serum it was a bit frizzy, and the curls were not really the nice wavy ones, but more short ringlets. I do think this is due to my hair type. Again there was a slight gritty feeling to my hair.

I was going to throw the product away but whilst I had my rollers in one night (on dry hair). I decided to use the product again to see if it helped maintain the roller curls. I sprayed the product all over my head over the hair on my rollers, probably about 5 - 8 pumps. I slept in my rollers and when woke up in the morning removed them to discover my curls were more prominent than usual. Yay. As I went throughout the day I noticed that my curls were staying longer than usual. They usually 'drop' after 3 - 4 hours, but 7 hours on and they were still going. They were still there (but not as full) the morning after. Now this is my must have product when wearing my hair curly. I think the salt sort of sets in my hair, keeping the shape longer than if I do not use it.

The trial bottle I had lasted about 4 months, and this is being used 2-3 times a week. I think with this product you have to try it in different ways to see what works for your hair type. But don't be disheartened if you don't see the result you want straight away.

Summary: Well priced product, once you work out how to use will work wonders on your hair
