Advantages: Excellent product, makes hair feel healthier, protects against heat damage

My hair has been feeling a bit dry for some time now, this is partly because I am growing it out of a short style and am therefore having it cut less often and partly because I have highlights which tend to dry the hair out further. I also have that annoying kind of hair which tends to kink out rather than being either poker straight or properly wavy so I often straighten it if I am going out...again this adds further strain to my poor hair.

I have never before used a heat protection spray but I found the miniature 'take away' version on the reduced shelf in my local boots because the cap was missing for a pound. I therefore decided to invest and am now a proper fan of this product.

Because I had never used such a product I was unsure how best to apply and sure enough the first time I used it as directed by spraying directly onto the hair before straightening, the outcome was way too sticky and cardboard-esque for my liking. I spoke to a friend of mine who has been straightening for years and she explained a much better way to do it.

Basically before straightening you spray a couple of squirts of the liquid onto the fingers of one hand then quickly rub your hands together so its all over the fingers on both hands, now tip your head forward and gently rake your fingers through the hair away from the roots but through to the ends. This will ensure that its spread evenly and without bias across your hair. Then tip your head back and straighten as normal.

Sure enough when I did it this way I was astounded by the results. My hair, post straightening, felt much healthier and not too dried out, the style also stayed put for much longer than it usually does when straightening without any product. It also felt to me like with the product already through my hair I needed to go over each piece less times to achieve the result I wanted with the irons.

The product claims to make your hair shinier too. Personally I didnt notice any extra shine but it certainly did look in better condition and the ends did not look dry, to me thats enough of a bonus without the extra shine!

I will certainly be buying this product again in the bigger, full size bottle, I love the fact that they also do it in the takeaway size and I will probably also get one of these small bottles to take with me on holidays, such is my happiness with the results!

It you use heated appliances on your hair a lot then I would definitely recommend this as it really does seem to protect your hair and enhance the style - I would suggest you apply it in the way I have suggested above for the best results as this seems to work best for me.
