I like a bargain and so when my local Waitrose had a basket of reduced Charles Worthington heavenly hairwash shampoo for only 49p a bottle I bought several! The shampoo is part of the prestigious Charles Worthington collection and usually retails at around £5.49. I was very pleased with my purchase and felt sure I had got a quality product for a bargain price.

I could hardly wait to get into the shower and try out my shampoo. The bottle looked stylish and the shampoo was a pretty pink colour. Removing the clear plastic cover revealed one of those tops that you press to activate the dispenser on the other side. I usually like these as they prevent the shampoo from spilling out. However I found I had to squeeze the bottle really hard to get any shampoo out. Not a god start.

The next thing I noticed was how thick the shampoo is. It also has a very strong scent. I usually like well-scented shampoos but this one was just too much. To be honest it smelt like an old fashioned perfume.

The shampoo did lather well and once mixed with water the scent seemed to disappear. I did not need to use much of the shampoo to produce a rich lather. The shampoo rinsed off well. At this stage I noticed my hair felt very dry far more than is usual. I conditioned with my beloved Keratase conditioner but my hair still felt dry.

Once out of the shower I blow-dried my hair and it felt ok again. I used the shampoo a few more times but then began to notice my hair was looking limp and it felt heavy. I suspected the heavenly hairwash was creating a build-up on my hair.

I have now given up on my bargain and now know why Waitrose had reduced it! If anyone would like several bottles of this shampoo I am your woman!

Summary: A shampoo from the Charles Worthington range

It's always a huge disappointment when you are looking forward to trying out a bargain and creating a great look for your hair and it ends up being 'not such a bargain' after all!

What a shame! But yeah, that's obviously why you found them in the bargain bucket!!

Oh no! How disappointing! It's awful when a bargain goes pear-shaped on you like that!
