Advantages: Handy size for travelling, lovely smell.
Disadvantages: Doesn't work well on very dry, coarse, frizzy hair.
I bought the 'take aways' version of this conditioner way back in September 2007. Given that it was at the end of the main holiday season, Boots were having a clear out and I got this for a low 82p for the 50ml bottle, which was half price.
Since it states that it lasts for 36 months from first opening, I was forward planning for summer 2008 and actually remembered to pack in on this years trip to sunnier climes!
- Packaging -
This is a small plastic orange tube, as shown on the photo. Ideal for holiday packing as it doesn't take up much space in a toiletry bag.
There is a screw top lip to dispense the conditioner. The photo suggests that it has a flip top lid which I have to say would have been an easier option.
- What does it promise? -
~ Gives hair an instant moisturising treatment.
~ Contains a strengthening formula to target damaged areas.
~ Leaves hair smooth, shiny, refreshed and protected.
It is suitable for dry, damaged or colour treated hair.
- How to use it -
The directions on the back of the tube state that it should be used sparingly after shampooing on towel dried hair. Once applied, run the conditioner through your hair with a comb or fingers.
- My Experience -
I have very dry, frizzy hair so anything that gives it extra nourishment is a bonus. Since this promises to seal in the moisture I was expecting glossy, silky looking locks during my holiday when my hair becomes even coarser due to the effects of the sun and sea.
~ Smell and Appearance
This has a lovely fresh scent. It's very pale beige an has a light cream-like texture.
~ Using it
I'm so used to having to heap on the wash out conditioners that I use that initially I was unsure as to how much to apply. On the first time of using it, I think that I put far too much on as my hair went completely lank and greasy looking, so there was shine but not a pleasant looking shine!
My hair is longer than shoulder length and after a few experimental uses of the conditioner, I found that a 'baked bean' size is quite sufficient to comb through my hair.
As with all hair products that I have used I was expecting miraculous results but unfortunately my hair seems to be beyond miracles.
Once I got the correct amount, the conditioner did initially make my towel dry hair feel tangle-free and when wet it looked a smoother. However on drying it, the usual frizz and dryness began to appear which became even worse in the humid evenings in Italy.
- Overall -
This is a handy sized conditioner aimed at holiday makers and Chalres Worthington has quite a wide range of products in these little bottles and tubes.
However in terms of it's effectiveness for my hair, it didn't do the trick. The frizz and coarseness was still apparant and the smooth and shiny hair that I was hoping for didn't happen. I therefore wouldn't recommend it for anyone afflicted with very coarse, frizzy locks.
Summary: Didn't work for me!!
