“ Brand: Charles Worthington / Cremes / Type: Hair Cream / What it does: destresses „
Whilst I was in Sainsburys picking up some magazines for a long train journey that I had planned I spotted an offer that they had on in the beauty department which was 'any 2 for £7' across a range of hair care products. I don't usually shop in Sainsbury's as I find their food prices somewhat expensive but I thought this was a very reasonable offer so I decided to try out two new haircare products. One of which was the Charles Worthington Results Relax & Unwind Straightening Cream.
The cream came in an off white 150ml tube with the Charles Worthington logo on it and a brief product description. The packaging looks very professional and does look like it belongs on the shelves of top salons.
My hair is naturally quite straight but in the rain and against the elements my hair doesn't tend to stay this way and turns wavy which makes my hair look 'undone' and limp which isn't a desirable look at all. I thought that this cream may put a stop to my hair becoming victim to the elements. It stated on the tube that it would relax kinks and waves in the hair which helps to maintain a straightened look, act as a heat protector and give your hair a moisture boost which will add a shine to your hair.
I followed the instructions on the tube; I washed my hair and let it dry slightly until my hair was damp. I then squirted a little bit of cream onto my fingers and worked the cream into my hair from root to tip paying particular attention to the ends of my hair as they tend to go curly and wayward first! The cream wasn't sticky or oily so I wasn't anxious as to if it would make my hair greasy. The smell of the cream was very subtle but was a little bit perfumed and fruity but nothing obvious at all and definitely not a scent that stuck once it was applied to the hair.
I then concluded to blow dry my hair. I noticed almost immediately how smooth my hair felt beneath my fingers but I was apprehensive that it would make my hair 'fly-away' which would mean that it wouldn't stay straight because it is too light! This turned out not to be the case. I found that my straightened hair do stayed straighter for so much longer it still falls victim to the rain but under normal circumstances my straight locks remain just that; straight!
As for the shine I didn't notice too much of a difference as I use shampoo and conditioner which enhances my hairs shine so I wasn't looking for this effect from the cream but it doesn't make the hair dull either so it can't be bad!
For £3.50 (using the deal from Sainsbury's) this was a bargain buy which does work well however I probably wouldn't pay the full price for this product which was £5 I would wait until it was on offer again or look online for a cheaper price!
I have curly hair, and sometimes I straighten my hair when I tie it back. Obviously, straightening hair can cause damage, and even my hairdresser was annoyed when I once burnt part of my fringe. I have tried many straightening balms/creams in the past, although with most I have found they either smell awful or are really sticky and make hair feel rough and thus hard to straighten.
In a last attempt to try something better, I decided to try out this product.
What I really like about it is that it smells really nice. It reminds me of lavender, although I am not sure why since the smell is not very lavender.
It also leaves hair shiner after straightening, and for once the cream is not sticky, so goes straight through my hair with no problems. As it is a cream, I try not to use too much to avoid grease, but so far there has been no problems.
The only thing I dislike about this product is that it does not seem to dry through the hair too quickly, and so sometimes the straighteners have left hair a little frizzy or made the sizzling noise. However, since using this product, my hair has been healthier than before.
I decided to give the Charles Worthington relax and unwind straightening cream a try when I seen the mini takeaways version of this in the pound shop for the obvious price of a quid. I have tried Charles Worthington products in the past but none of them have made me eager to use them as a continual product.
This product comes in a 50ml purple tube which looks smart yet not fussy. The original product is obviously bigger in size than the takeaways version. The tube sits upside down and can be easily squeezed to dispense the straightening cream. The tube advises that this product will create super sleek straightened hair.
The first thing I noticed about this cream was the scent as it is rather perfumed smelling and floral. The scent is pleasant enough however it is strong but fortunately doesn't have a lasting scent to the hair considering I can't smell it throughout the day. The second noticeable factor was the consistency of the cream which was medium and white in colour.
I dispensed a generous amount as advised and applied it to freshly washed towel dried hair. The first time of using this cream I literally applied everywhere on my hair and I found the finishing effect to be lank and greasy looking so after that I only apply the product to the mid lengths and ends which works much better.
After applying a generous amount of cream to the mid lengths and end of the hair it helps smooth and relax natural kinks and curls to the hair making blow drying and straightening much easier and I must admit each time I use this I feel like my hair looks a lot straighter after blow drying compared to using no product.
I was also very happy to see that this cream contains added moisturisers to create a high shine finish. This cream also increases hairs resistance to heat styling damage which is fantastic to know it works as a base for drying and straightening to help minimise damage.
This cream has to be used sparingly and if used properly it can be worth it. I loved how the cream provides a nice protective base for the hair without weighing it down when just used on the mid lengths and ends. After using this, my hair always looks a lot straighter with an added shine that lasts throughout the day. My hair is coarse and can be prone to frizziness and can be hard to tame but this cream works well for me even in humidity my hair stayed a lot flatter and tamed than it usually would.
Overall this cream does what it says on the tube and works well. I would definitely recommend.
Ah, my mum the Boots employee and her mysterious staff shop goodybag of delights ! Boots are very strict on quality control on the products they manufacture, not just their own brands but big brands manufactured under licence . If the label is just a little bit wonky, into the on site staff shop with it, and usually at a pretty hefty discount too . My mum picked up a 'lucky bag' from the staff shop, at the hefty price of £1, and this was an assortment of Charles Worthington hair products with the labels stuck on slightly skew-whiff, one of which was the Relax and Unwind Straightening Cream.
Now, my natural hair is thick, bouncy - and utterly mad . My hair seems to be incapable of deciding whether it is straight or curly, with the result that I have some crazy kinks, accompanied by a vast amount of frizz. My mum doesn't straighten her hair, so I was happy enough to take this off her hands and give it a go!
The packaging is as you see above (except that mine had the wonky label!) so I won't bore you by going into infinite detail about it .
The back of the product tells me that this product will do the following:
Relax kinks, waves and curls with long lasting hold to keep straightened styles in place .
Increase hairs resistance to heat styling damage.
Give a moisture boost with Panthenol and smooth the hair for a high shine finish .
This all sounds really good, and exactly what my frizzy mad mop needs. On top of this, this product will last for 24 months once opened, and contains moisturising rice protein .
Using this is simple - Simply wash your hair as normal, squeeze out any excess moisture, and then smooth a little of this through your hair and blow dry, then use straighteners to complete the look .
Now, I'll be honest, I've not been using straighteners for long, and I usually use only a heat defence spray . I wasn't too sure how much of this I needed to use at first, (I have shoulder length hair) so I squeezed a very small amount into my hands, rubbed them together and smoothed my hands over my hair . I figured I would rather use to little, and have slightly frizzy kinky hair, than too much and have my hair look lank and flat because of the weight of numerous products .
And actually, a little seems to go a long way - even with the first stingy application, I did notice that not only did my hair seem to straighten more easily, but also that is was less frizzy and a little shinier . In addition, it seemed that actually moving the straighteners through my hair was easier, with my hair catching less .
This doesn't have any particular smell to it - just a very mild slightly fruity scent, but nothing that lingers on the hair once styled, or on the hands. And I didn't find that my hair felt heavy when using it , or that I had to wash my hair any more often than normal . However, I do not straighten my hair very often, probably only one or two days a week - perhaps if you were to use it daily it might well wear the hair down.
Overall, I think this product is great - I don't straighten my hair too often, but when I do this makes a noticeable difference , making the style easier to create, and much sleeker looking . Having looked on the Boots website, the normal price of this is £4.39 for 150ml, which I think is very reasonable as a little does go a long way!
A great product for taming my mad mop - 5 stars!
YAY! Dooyoo has finally got round to excepting one of my prodyct suggestions! So a few weeks ago I was suprised to find they didnt have this product listed in the "catalogue" and now my opinion has been listened to I better get down to reviewing it hadn't I?!
I first got this product in a gift set for Christams a few years ago and since then it has become a permanant fixture in my bathroom cabinet, in fact I still have the same tube I got last Chrsitmas and it still has product left! I use it everytime I wash my hair which just goes to show how long it lasts!
What Does The Product Promise:
This product like most of the serums these days promises to give you silky straight hair, whilst removing kinks and frizz to leave your hair looking and feeling fabulous. It says it is also packed with nutrients to protect your hair against heat damage and give it a moisture boost for locked in goodness. Wow all that squeezed into a 100ml tube?
Does The Product Deliver?
I think it certainley delievers on the leaving your with straight and silky hair front and it does leave my hair looking noticably straighter and softer. Im not to sure about the heat protection, I use straightners all the time and I havent noticed any real change whilst using this serum, I still get as many split ends as ever!
What Did I Think Of The Product:
As I said previously I am a big fan of this serum. I felt it gave me noticable results and thats always a huge plus when the prduct actually works! Most serums can leave my hair feeling quite greasy and I need to wash it a lot more regularly when using them, but I didnt have that problem with this brand. I really like the fact the it lasts so long as well, so I dont have to keep buying new one's every few weeks! The smell is amazing and leaves your hair smelling fresh and lovely. 10/10 recommend to everyone!
