Advantages: Chic bottle, Well priced

Disadvantages: Gloopy, Difficult to spread evenly

If theres one thing I'm a complete sucker for, it's haircare products. Regardless of price, shape and size, if it's supposed to feed my hair with essential nutrients and multi-vitamins, I have to have it.

Nowadays everyone seems to be using serum to "tame" their locks, add extra shine etc. I decided to try a Charles Worthington one because I'm fond of his blow-dry spray and intensive conditioner. it also comes in a chic looking glass bottle which helps. I have long hair which has been repeatedly dyed, highlighted, straightened, curled etc. which meant if there was one thing I needed it was shine.

The thing is with serums is that they really can't be too heavy. I know they always say on the back of the bottle to only put a few drops on, but when you have long hair you do tend to overestimate how much you need, and if the products not doing much well, you slap more on! (maybe that's just me?!). The point is serums are nearly all very oily, and put too much on and your head looks like you've thrown a chip pan over it.

Even if you apply more heat to try and dry out the oiler parts, they normally are still noticeably greaser (no, no one is going to mistake it for shine). I found this serum, although one of the more affordable ones, is very heavy. When you apply a little, it dosen't do anything. When you apply too much - well you know the concequences.

It dosen't do much in terms of "taming" either, but then again, I don't think serums were really made for that job. On small sections, it can add an extra gleam (particuraly on dry ends.) It isn't a miracle product by any means, but it does quite well in adding a bit of shine and softness to the hair. Bearing in mind Serum is really a finishing product, I think that spray on serums that are around are better because they are lighter on the hair and creater better illusion of shine and bounce :)
