Advantages: Clairol are currently giving away free samples of this product, leaves hair feeling and looking shiny & healthy, Helps to detangle hair

Disadvantages: I haven't come across any yet

Before I begin I must advise you that this review is actually about Clairol Herbal Essences Moisturising Conditioner, I have put it here as I could not find the exact product match and Dooyoo are not currently adding new products.

I am a sucker for freebies and when I recently came across a link for free trial bottles of Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner I jumped at the chance to apply. If you are interested in claiming your free bottles I will leave details on how you can obtain them at the end of my opinion.

I have tried both the shampoo and conditioner but today I have chosen to write about the conditioner.

The sample conditioner that I received is called Herbal Essences Moisturising Conditioner for Normal Hair. It is made by Clairol and contains Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Jojoba in Mountain Spring Water.

The sample sized conditioner is contained within a 45 ml bottle, which is a good size as it allows you to try the product at least 3-4 times to see if it actually suits your hair - I've found in the past that the free trial sachets I have been sent by other manufacturers don't really contain enough for me to form an accurate opinion about the product and its' suitability to my hair.

The product is packaged within an opaque cream coloured plastic bottle which is sealed with a bottle green coloured screw top lid.

The front of the bottle has a transparent sticker attached to it which advises the consumer of the manufacturer, the product name, the hair type that the product is suitable for, the product size and a list of the main herbal ingredients contained within the product.

The reverse of the packaging again contains a transparent label which this time advises the consumer of the full list of ingredients, the manufacturer contact details and brief directions for use. All text is written in the same bottle green colour as the lid and this compliments the cream coloured bottle very wel
l and gives the product quite a natural looking appearance.

To use the conditioner you should first shampoo your hair, rinse clean and then apply a small amount of conditioner to wet hair ensuring that you massage it right through to the ends of your hair.

The conditioner is also a cream colour, similar to the bottle colour, and has a good thick, creamy consistency which smells lovely, the perfume is quite strong but not overpowering and left my hair smelling fresh and clean for at least the duration of the day.

I found that immediately I began to apply the conditioner to my hair it began to feel instantly softer. Unlike some conditioners with this product you do not need to wait for the product to work, once applied you can rinse it straight off, it rinses out quite easily too - I have found with some conditioners that I'm still trying to remove all traces of the product 10/15 minutes later - I am pleased to advise you that Herbal Essences conditioner is easily washed out within a couple of minutes.

A small amount of conditioner goes a long way - I have very long hair, (bra strap length), and this I believe that the sample bottle is likely to last me for 3-4 applications, obviously if you only have short hair you most likely will find that it lasts a lot longer.

Once I had rinsed the conditioner off and towel dried my hair, I was pleased to note that my hair seemed to be almost tangle free and that a comb quite easily glided through my hair - normally I have a major knotting fiasco which takes me ages to sort out.

I have long, thick, very dry, often uncontrollable, frizzy, coloured hair and have frequently found in the past that whilst other conditioners leave my hair feeling softer they also leave it looking lank or very static. Although this product is advertised for normal hair I was very pleased with it as it left my hair feeling much softer, moisturised, shinier, easier to manage and best of all not a
t all lank or static.

I would highly recommend that you give this product a try - even if you only send off for the free sample just to try it out.

If you are interested in obtaining your free samples you need to visit the Herbal Essences website and register. To do so just copy and paste this link into your browser bar and you will be taken to the correct page to register, but hurry as the offer closes on 30th November 2002.

There are also other conditioners available within the range and these include the following:-

Herbal Essences Protection Conditioner for use with coloured and permed hair

Herbal Essences Natural Volume Weightless Conditioner for better body

Herbal Essences Light Conditioning for limp hair

Herbal Essences Clean-Rinsing Conditioner to help reduce build up residue

Herbal Essences Leave-In Conditioner for non stop conditioning

As previously mentioned, I did not purchase this product but I have done some research and it tends to retail at around £1.99 for a 400 ml bottle. I will definitely be buying this when my sample has ran out.

Thank you for reading.

Julie
