Advantages: Moisturing, smells amazing, doesn't weigh hair down... the list goes on.

Disadvantages: What disadvantages??

After about 2 years of heavy heated styling tool use (I curl my hair about every other day) and little to no heat protection, my hair is in awful condition. It was previously quite long, but is now a couple of inches below my shoulders in an effort to rid myself of the terrible split ends and brittleness I have caused.

I now use a whole host of products to try and lock in moisture and ward off any further damage. This shampoo and conditioner being one of them. I have used Herbal Essences products previously and always been pleased with the results. They leave my hair very shiny and my boyfriend never fails to comment on how nice it smells.

So when I saw an advert for this range I thought TA-DA! This is perfect! I hurriedly went out and bought the shampoo, conditioner, conditioning mask and leave in conditioner (see, I wan't lying when I said I used a lot of products...)

I got the 400ml shampoo and conditioner for £2 as it was on special in Superdrug, which I thought was very reasonable. Normally it's slightly more but still hardly a bank breaker. The packaging is very appealing and doesn't look an eyesore on my dressing table, since I have to keep my shampoo and conditioner there to prevent thieving family members from getting their paws on it (normally brother and dad, weirdly).

I have to say, I haven't been disappointed. The shampoo and conditioner and very moisturising, which is exactly what my poor hair needs, I can practically hear it say "aaaaahh" with satisfaction with every application! However it is also light enough not to weigh down my hair. This is also important to me as one of the reasons I curl my hair is to increase volume.

The smell is one of their best, it's just gorgeous. I find myself standing in the shower just sniffing my hair while waiting for the conditioner to work its magic.

Once a week I use the conditioning mask, and although it says on the pot leave for five minutes, I've been told by my hairdresser that for it to have any real effect, you should leave on an intensive mask for a minimum of half an hour. So at the end of my shower on a Sunday night, I towel dry my hair (TOP TIP: this should always be done before applying any conditioner, as apparently it takes much better to dryer hair), load up my hair with the mask and tidy up my bedroom while singing along to the radio. It's actually a rather enjoyable part of my evening (does that make me really sad?) I then hop back in the shower and rinse it off thoroughly.

After towel drying my hair again I then apply the leave in conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends. A quick spritz of volumising spray and heat protective spray later and I set about styling my hair, safe in the knowledge I've done all I can to prevent damage.

Since starting this routine, my hair is about a million and three times better than it was, really soft and bouncy. Hopefully with continued use it'll be restored to its former glory!
