As a follow up to my previous Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Shampoo review, I thought it would make sense to then review the hair mask from the same range. Just like the shampoo, the Beautiful Ends Mask aims to protect your split ends and make them appear much healthier than they would had you not used this product. For someone like me, who is constantly dying and using heat stylers on her hipbone length hair, having healthy ends is a must!
The pot says, "I'm your hair's passionate protector and defender. I'll leave your hair strong to carry on...and on...and on. And keep it feeling voluptuously velvety"
Quite a big claim to make, in my opinion.
The mask comes in a pot exactly like the one pictured above. It's comparable in size to the Hawaiian Tropics body butters, but if you aren't familiar with those, the pot is around 3 inches high and 4 inches in diameter. Just like the rest of the Beautiful Ends range, the pot is bright red in colour and claims to be red raspberry with silk extracts. Again, I have no idea what silk is supposed to smell like, but this mask smells like a creamy mix of berries whilst looking just like strawberry custard. Divine!
To use the mask you simply apply it from root to tip onto shampooed hair and then leave it for 5 minutes so that it can work it's magic. I was slightly sceptical about applying this to my roots as I never apply conditioner or masks to my roots as it promotes greasiness, but I decided to follow the instructions this time and slap it on all over!
The mask is easy enough to use although it's a thick but runny cream, so if you scoop too much into your hands you might drop some down the drain. You simply work it into your hair and that's that.
5 minutes, 1 shampoo bottle microphone and a bad Lady Gaga cover later, I rinsed the mask out. Whilst rinsing it out, my hair felt silky soft and had no tangles in it whatsoever. After giving it a quick blast with cold water for extra shine, I slapped a towel onto my head and left it for 15 minutes before tackling the tedious task of drying my hair.
Long story short, after drying and styling my hair, I noticed a huge difference in shine and how healthy my hair appeared. My ends didn't seem as dry and sad looking, they now appeared to be healthy and moisturised.
I initially thought that this was a temporary result, but I've been using this once a week and my hair continues to appear healthy and shiny even on the days I don't use it!
A 200ml pot will cost you £3.99 from Boots and will last roughly 6 washes on very long, thick hair, and probably 12 washes for medium length hair. I find this to be great value for money, especially considering the results I get!
Pros
-------
- delicious scent
- lovely packaging (I'm a sucker for things looking pretty on my bathroom shelf!)
- cheap as chips
- provides consistent, great results
Cons
-------
- you can lose some down the drain if you're not careful!
Overall, I don't have anything bad to say about this product and highly recommend it to anyone who thinks their hair needs a bit of TLC.
Thanks for reading.
