Advantages: Softens, smooths, non-greasy, light
Disadvantages: Effects don't last that well
I've been looking for a good hair mask for a while, but as I'm trying desperately not to spend too much money it was hard finding one cheap enough. So, when I spotted this Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Mask on offer at £1.99 in Morrisons I snapped one up. The ends of my fine hair do often look a bit worse for wear, especially after blow-drying so it sounded like it would be really good for me.
It comes in a bright red plastic pot with a screw off lid. The lid comes off easily but it fastens nice and tight so you don't have to worry about spills. The fact that it's in a pot means you just dip your hand in to get some of the mask out.
The mask has quite a thin texture compared to other masks I've used which means it can be hard to get it out of the pot without making a mess, it tends to slip easily off or through my fingers as I'm trying to scoop it out. It has a strong fruity scent like most Herbal Essences products, it is a nice scent but I find it quite chemical smelling which does take away from the pleasure a bit.
According to the pot you're supposed to use this after shampooing and apply it form root to tip paying extra attention to the tips. It's easy to cover your hair with it because of it's thin texture, it spreads really easily. Weirdly though I find even though it spreads easily I still have to use quite a lot of it at a time to cover all of my long but very fine hair. It rinses out easily and my hair isn't left feeling heavy or thick with product, and there's no greasy residue left behind.
I find my hair feels very soft after using this and unlike a lot of mask and intensive conditioners it doesn't make my fine hair greasy, even at the roots. My hair is left looking quite bouncy and light, and it feels smooth and soft. The ends, which are normally quite flyaway due to the fine texture of my hair, look much more healthy and smoothed down.
The only slight downside to this product for me is that the results don't last that well. With other masks I usually find the results last a few days even through washing my hair every day, but the results of this only seem to last until I wash my hair, which is a bit disappointing.
Overall I do think this is a good product and I would recommend it for anyone who wants a quick fix for smooth ends.
Summary: A good quick-fix treatment for unhealthy looking ends
