I regularly purchase 2in1 shampoos, as my husband likes the convenience of using these for his morning shower. I myself try to use a separate shampoo and conditioner to try keep my shoulder length hair in good condition but in reality I seem to be using his 2in1 almost as much as my own shampoo in order to make it to work on time! I would like to share with you my thoughts and experience after my recent use of Clairol Herbal Essences Dazzling Shine 2in1 moisture balance.
My experience
This brand from Proctor and Gamble is one that is probably familiar to most of you. I am not loyal to any brand of shampoo as I think most are over priced for what they are. Instead I like to purchase shampoo when its on special offer to get some more value for money. I bought this product as it was on offer and as it's a well know brand I thought that the product should be of good quality.
The packaging has a convenient green dispenser at the top matching closely the colour of the 2in1 shampoo and conditioner and this packaging is recyclable. The packaging has changed slight from the image above and it does state on the bottle that this is a 'New Formula'. On opening the dispenser the scent is reminiscent of sweet tropical fruits. This did surprise me as the label states that it contains 'shimmering pearl and rose extracts' so I did expect the scent of rose, but this isn't evident (I don't know what pearl extract should smell like so will refrain from comment on this extract!).
The 2in1 shampoo and conditioner is for 'normal hair' according to the label. I would consider myself to have 'normal hair' its straight without any volume and I don't suffer from too many dry ends so I thought this would fit my needs quiet closely. How wrong I was, I've now tried this 2in1 shampoo and conditioner about half a dozen times and am extremely disappointed with the results. The simple act of wetting hair, lathering and rinsing clean is fine it's the positively terrible condition it leaves my hair when dry that was the real disappointment. It creates hair akin to that which is dipped into a chip fryer, greasy, greasy, greasy (yes so bad it warrants this triple greasy mention)! Now and then I can get greasy roots but never before have I had freshly washed hair, which was so lacklustre and dreary. At first I thought I may not have washed it out correctly in my rush to catch the bus however all my other uses of the product have left my hair looking greasy and unwashed so I've given up trying this product any more. My husband has also been really disappointed with the results and has given up using it too.
Price
I bought this on special offer at my local Sainsbury's supermarket recently, which was two 400ml bottles for £5. Individually you can expect to pay about £3.30 for this size bottle of the product. My keenness for a bargain has left me with another bottle of this in my bathroom cupboard, which I cannot see us ever using. I do think that for the results I have seen this is expensive and not good value for money.
For me its only gets a 1/5, the packaging promises dazzling shine and for the money I paid for this product I expected more than a greasy sheen!
Thanks for reading.
Summary: A very disappointing hair washing experience
