My hair likes a change of shampoo - when I'm nearing the end of the previous brand's bottle, it usually starts to go greasier far quicker than normal. I buy a variety of shampoos on 3 for 2 deals and then dig one out when needed and at the moment I'm using this Herbal Essences Fresh Balance shampoo. It was part of a 3 for 2 in Boots, but costs around £3.50 - £4 normally for a bottle containing 400ml.
The shampoo comes in a clear curvy bottle, through which the bright green shampoo can be seen. It has a push top lid that enables the shampoo to come out fast and this doesn't help with the product's fairly thin consistency. I would have guessed upon first glance that it would be fairly gloopy and thick but I remember on first use I squeezed the bottle only for a massive amount to flood out and ultimately some was wasted. Now I make a mental note not to squeeze it much - it's fairly controllable if care is taken. The shampoo lathers up quickly on my wet hair and I find that it's fairly easy to rinse out although perhaps not quite as easy as some other brands of shampoo.
The scent of the shampoo is described on the bottle as 'citrus blossom extracts' - I think it smells exactly like watermelons and nothing else but I suppose citrus blossom makes it sound fancier! I'm not sure what has happened with this particular shampoo - perhaps mine has been waiting to be used for a long time because now Boots stock a Herbal Essences Fresh Balance shampoo with a completely different scent - that being icy pineapple and cotton extracts. I assume it's a newer version of the same shampoo.
The bottle claims that the scent will be noticeable after use and I agree that it is - it's one of very few shampoos that I've found the scent lasts long after washing and after drying with my hairdryer for 10 minutes. Even though the scent is there, I don't find it too intrusive - it's fairly subtle but just enough for it to smell fresh and clean.
The shampoo is designed for use on normal to oily hair, which my hair is to an extent - the roots of my hair tend to go greasy after a little time. I wash my hair every 48 hours normally although it can be every 24 hours if I feel that it needs it. I've found that my hair will last the full 48 hours with this shampoo, but it does need a wash after this time, I doubt it would last any longer.
The results are mixed. I find my hair is so soft, silky to touch and shines quite a bit (I think my hair has shone more with this than Herbal Essences own dazzling shine shampoo!) but on the downside, I feel that my hair has become quite fluffy, almost reaching the point of being slightly frizzy, something I haven't really had to deal with previously. It has been quite easy to straighten it though as I usually do afterwards.
The main issue I have with this shampoo are the number of breakages to my hair after washing and the number of hairs being lost during and after the washing process. I realise that a few stray hairs will fall out and this has always been the case with me, but I have noticed a lot of stray hairs fall out since using this product - considerably more so than I have with other branded shampoos. I know this shampoo isn't specifically designed to help stop breakages but I wouldn't have thought anyone would want to purchase a shampoo that didn't try to at least limit the amount of breakages that occurred. I feel that this isn't doing so and for that reason, I won't be purchasing this product again. It's a shame given some of the positives I've experienced.
I've rated it 3 stars overall, I would probably say it's more 2.5 stars based on my experience. The amount of stray hairs to me is a major thing, plus I find it's consistency to be a lot thinner than I'd like ideally. I've used shampoos from the cheaper end of the market, costing around £1 for a similar sized bottle and felt that they offered me the same sort of results taking everything into account. Once the bottle has been used, then I won't be returning to this shampoo.
Thanks for reading :o)
~Herbal Essence Fresh Balance Shampoo~
Amongst the hair care products that I have used is the Herbal Essence range, including the Fresh Balance shampoo and matching conditioner. I regularly rotate the hair care products that I use as I find that using the same product on my hair too often can result in either dull lifeless or over processed feeling hair, which I try to avoid. I have found that Herbal Essence have such a wide range of shampoos and conditioners that there is very often a product for most hair care needs and having tried many of the products within the range, I feel that the Fresh Balance shampoo is a good choice that leaves hair feeling clean, fresh and neither too dry nor too oily.
I find that the shampoo is quite thick in texture, which means that it doesn't run out of your hand as soon as you dispense a little of the product ready for use, which makes it quite easy to handle. I find that the shampoo lathers up well when in use, with only a very small amount of product needed to clean hair to a good degree. I tend to lather up the product, rinse and then repeat the process to give the best cleaning results, using only a small amount of shampoo each time. I find that the shampoo is easily rinsed away with fresh clean water, leaving my hair feeling fresh and clean with no oily residue once dried.
I find that the fragrance of this shampoo is light and fresh, in line with most of the product range and my feeling is that the shampoo could be used by either a man or a woman, as the fragrance is fresh and slightly fruity but not in an overly feminine way. I do sometimes find that using the same shampoo and conditioner product from a range can leave my hair feeling either too dry or too oily, however in this case I can and do use the Fresh Balance complimentary conditioner from the same range with the shampoo as the two together tend to work well. Results when using the shampoo are generally good, with my hair feeling nice and clean after using it.
~Product design, ease of use~
In use the product bottle is easy to handle with a slight curve to the mid section of the bottle that makes it look quite tall and willowy. I tend to find that the smaller 200ml sized bottles are quite light and not so tall as to be easily tipped over, however the larger sized 400ml bottles are rather tall and heavy in comparison, which makes them easier to knock over. The shorter smaller bottles can be stored on a shelf in the shower quite easily as they don't take up too much room, the larger bottles tend not to stand as well and are much easier to knock over, so extra care needs to be taken when using them in my opinion.
The bottle lid used on the product bottle is easy to use as you simply press down on the top at one side, which allows the other side to flip up, revealing a small gap through which the shampoo is dispensed. Once you have enough shampoo you press the lid again and it closes down easily making a really good seal that stops any leaks or spills. I find that best value is from the larger sized bottles of shampoo as you get twice as much shampoo for your money, although the smaller sized bottle is the easier of the two to handle in my opinion.
~Price/ product rating~
My rating for this shampoo is 4 stars as I feel it works quite well, with it leaving my hair feeling fresh and clean each time I have used it. This shampoo would suit a wide range of hair types in my opinion as it is not too oily and rich and leaves a nice light clean feel every time. Prices for the 400ml bottle can be as much as £4, with the smaller 200ml bottle being £2 or so, however there are very often offers and deals on this range which can make the shampoo even cheaper to buy.
I have been a long term sufferer of greasy hair and until now I've never been able to find that 'holy grail' shampoo to combat it. This all ended when I spotted Fresh Balance on the shelves.
At around £3 for 400ml it's very cheap as I expected coming from Herbal Essences. However don't mistake that the price will impact it's quality. The shampoo comes in a cool lime green curved bottle that opens at the top. When I got into the shower and first used it I had to use a bit more that usual to get that soapy lather but that doesn't really bother me. One thing that did disappoint me a little bit was the fact shampoo had no particular smell and I normally like my shampoo's to have a lovely scent that my hair will take to. Usually with other shampoo's I would have to wash my hair the next day or the grease would show. But with Fresh Balance I could wait 2 days before it would start to look greasy. My hair looked and smelt extremely 'fresh'. That was a massive achievement for me and my hair. I was amazed at how well it cleaned my hair. After years of trying shampoo after shampoo I had finally found my perfect product.
I have hair that gets greasy quite quickly, which means that I have to wash it daily to keep it looking fresh and clean, as it becomes limp and oily otherwise. I wash my hair at night so that I can let it air dry, and by the next evening it's usually already greasy. I'm always on the lookout for products that will help with this problem. I buy hair products from the Herbal Essences range frequently, so when I spotted this clarifying shampoo on sale at Superdrug, I snapped it up in the hope that it might help out with my greasy hair.
What Is A Clarifying Shampoo?
With time you may notice build-up (from hair-styling products, chlorine in swimming pools, excess conditioner, hard water, etc.) on your scalp and hair. This build-up can make your hair look dull, limp, greasy and weighed down. A clarifying shampoo can be used to get rid of this build-up and give your hair a "deep clean" to restore shine and volume to your hair.
The shampoo comes in a curved light green bottle that is see-through so you can always see how much of the shampoo you have left. To dispense the shampoo you just press down on one end of the lid-this causes the other end to pop out, exposing a small opening. Then you just slowly tilt the bottle to get your desired amount out. The bottle is not very heavy and the curved design prevents it from slipping through wet hands.
The shampoo contains citrus blossom & green tea extracts which are meant to get rid of excess oil and build up. The shampoo is light green in colour and is of an excellent consistency-it is not very thick or very runny. It lathers very well so only a small amount is needed. The shampoo smells fresh and slightly floral. The scent is strong when the product is being used, but doesn't really tend to linger on my hair after use which is disappointing. Once the shampoo is rinsed out, my hair feels squeaky clean. All the build up and excess oil does seem to be gone, and once it is dry, my hair feels soft, smooth, and not at all greasy. I don't use this shampoo every day as I do find it a little drying for daily use, but I use it once or twice a week, and after I use this my hair doesn't feel greasy for at least a full 24 hours! My hair feels and looks much healthier since I have incorporated this product into my hair care routine.
Price and Availability
This product is available at most chemists and supermarkets, and I usually tend to buy it from Boots or Superdrug. The 400 ml bottle usually retails around the £3.50 mark, and is often available on some sort of offer. I usually stock up when it is on a half price or buy one get one free offer.
I would definitely recommend this shampoo as it has made my hair look and feel much healthier. It gets rid of build up and excess oil, and if used once or twice a week, it doesn't dry my hair out-in fact, it leaves it quite soft, smooth and untangled. You only need to use a small amount because it lathers so well, and since I only use it a couple of times a week, it lasts for ages, and isn't even expensive to buy in the first place. The frequency of use will obviously depend on your hair type, but I believe all hair types suffer from build-up, so everyone could benefit from using this shampoo, even if only on a monthly basis.

Unfortunately, I have greasy hair that has to be washed every other day to avoid the 'just dipped my head in a chip pan' look, and am always looking out for a wonder shampoo that can combat this and allow me to leave a couple of days between washes.
The Herbal Essences 'Fresh Balance' shampoo comes in a very appealing dark green bottle. The bottle itself has a flat shape, but is curved inwards around the edges, allowing for ease when picking it up with wet hands! The contours of the bottle actually match up with the conditioner like a jigsaw puzzle, which saves a lot of space in the shower (or encourages you to buy another of their products!) and the top of the bottle only requires a simple push to reveal the opening to the shampoo. I like that this bottle has been made very easy to use in the shower.
The product itself stays true to the bottle, being a dark transparent green in colour. Since they have revamped the range, this shampoo now contains citrus blossom and green tea extracts, whose pleasant smells are released as soon as you open the bottle. I use two washes to get a good lather because my hair is very thick, but it does a very good job and I can imagine people with normal hair would only need to use one wash. You can definitely feel the shampoo clarifying your hair and washing away all the previous products, and it allowed me to go 2 days in between washes without my roots looking greasy, also leaving my hair smelling very fresh and of the scents within the shampoo.
I bought a 200ml bottle of this shampoo from ASDA when it was on sale so I got it for £1.00, although the ordinary price is around £1.75 and higher for a 400ml bottle. Considering the amount of washes you can get from one bottle, I'd say this is a fair price! At other places it can be a much higher price though, so keep a lookout for the deals at supermarkets and other stores.
A really good shampoo that tackles excess grease and leaves hair smelling wonderful. It is often on sale, but the original price is also a fair one and you can get a lot of washes from one bottle! I would recommend this to anyone with greasy hair.
I have the misfortune of having greasy hair which requires washing every other day and, as such, I'm always on the look out for a shampoo that can combat this problem, while not being too expensive. Having tried plenty of shampoos claiming to be able to tackle greasiness, I can honestly say that this is one of the better ones.
The Herbal Essences range come in various coloured bottles, the one for oily hair being a dark green. This is slightly annoying, as they also have one that is in a 'light' green, but is for normal hair, rather than oily, and promises to make your hair 'shine'. This is not what people who have oily hair want, so beware not to confuse the two bottles!! Otherwise, the bottle is attractive, and I like that you can actually see the shampoo through the transparent bottle. These shampoos come in various sizes: 200ml, 400ml and I think I've seen a travel-sized one which would be perfect for taking on holiday if you're lacking space in your bag, although it's likely to be overpriced, as all such products are.
I really like this shampoo. It claims to have an icy pineapple and cotton scent to it. Although I do not really know what 'icy' pineapple means (probably just some sales gimmick to make it sound luxurious), I like the scent of the shampoo. It smells fresh and fruity, although I can't really say that my hair smells like cotton haha. I suspect this is supposed to suggest freshness, which I would agree that it achieves. I only require one use of this shampoo to get a good lather going, whereas with other shampoos I have found that two washes of the shampoo are required to get a half decent lather and coverage of my head going (I have quite thick hair, it can be quite an effort to get good coverage if the shampoo is naff). My hair will remain grease free for about 2 days, sometimes stretching to a third day that I can just about get away with, which I deem to be a good shampoo. I have had shampoos in the past that have required me to wash my hair practically everyday, and so I am satisfied with this shampoo!
£3.49 from Boots. However, if you search for this product in Google Shopping, the cheapest you can get it for is supposedly £1. Also, very often these shampoos are on special offer in supermarkets as a BOGOF offer with their conditioner counterpart. Definitely worth keeping your eyes open to get your value for money.
This is an excellent product, that does what it says it will and smells lovely! It's probably not the best on the market, but it lasts me ages and I can't complain about the price. A must try if you have greasy hair.
I have been trying to save money on beauty products lately. I normally use Tigi shampoos but I feel I can no longer justify the price tag. I picked this shampoo up along with the conditioner in Tesco when it was buy one get one free. Just to let you know it is currently £1.66 for a 400ml big bottle as opposed to the normal £3.65 so you should stock up now!
This particular shampoo comes in a green bottle and is marketed for normal to oily hair. It is actually a clarifying shampoo. Up until recently I used a lot of hair wax to maintain my style and ended up with a lot of residue so I thought I would try this to remove the gunk that always seems to be left behind after washing my hair.
This shampoo contains icy pineapple and cotton extract. The bottle states it will 'gently purify your hair by sweeping away excess oil and styling build up. Clear your head with my refreshing potion, made with icy pineapple and cotton extracts. I'm a lean, clean, freshness regime' It is recommended you follow on with the conditioner.
To use this shampoo you simply apply to wet hair work into a lather and rinse. The shampoo smells really nice, you can really smell the pineapple it is very refreshing. The shampoo comes out of the bottle a pale green colour and you only need a small amount to get a decent lather. You can also repeat washing if you have significant build up.
I found that this shampoo rinsed out really well and I followed on with the matching conditioner. After using this shampoo I noticed that my hair felt clean, any wax and hairspray residue was removed and my hair felt light again. It was more managable than normal too. I normally have dry hair and this worked wonders on it. The only downside I found with this was after a few weeks of use my hair which is highlighted had become one shade of blonde. It appears to strip the colour from your hair. I was really disappointed about this.
I would give the 3 out of 5 stars just because of the effect it had on my hair colour, I would definately recommend it to those who have greasy hair, or hair overloaded with styling products.
I have very greasy hair that usually needs a wash every other day to avoid the dreaded oil slick look and having failed to find any shampoo that really does anything to help this, I've adopted a routine of just picking up a decent shampoo and washing my hair as often as needs be. I've used Herbal Essences products in the past and been pretty happy with them so I decided to give this one a go when I spotted it in Poundland.
The shampoo contains coconut and cotton to help retain a natural balance for hair that is prone to feeling greasy. Overall, your hair is supposed to feel fresher.
There's a clean, fresh smell to the shampoo, although I can't really pinpoint what it is. I've no idea what cotton is supposed to smell like in the context of a shampoo so I'll take a guess that it's meant to be a mild coconut smell as that's the other main ingredient specified in the claims. It lathers up nicely and I find that I don't need to use much at all so it's pretty cost-effective too.
My hair defintiely feels fresher after using this shampoo, although the smell doesn't really linger for very long. As I mentioned at the start of the review, I usually feel that I need to wash my hair every other day and no amount of dry shampoo would prolong this any further, but since I've been using this shampoo I've found that I can actually stretch to only washing my hair twice a week and using dry shampoo on the in-between days. Knowing how greasy my hair usually is, this is really impressive to me and I'm very inclined to agree with the claims that it helps to balance greasy hair.
I picked up one of the smaller bottles (200ml or 250ml, can't quite remember now as the bottle has since been thrown away last night!) in Poundland (for £1, naturally!) but if you're buying elsewhere, my price research suggests you can expect to pay (if not on offer):
*Boots - £3.56 for a 400ml bottle
*Superdrug - Around £3.49 for a 400ml bottle
*Sainsburys - Around £2 for a 200ml bottle or around £3.25 for a 400ml bottle
*Tesco - Around £3.32 for a 400ml bottle
*Asda - Around £2 for a 200ml bottle or around £3.26 for a 400ml bottle
***OVERALL VERDICT: RECOMMENDED?***
If like me, you have hair that is very prone to being greasy, I'd definitely recommend that you give this shampoo a try as it's made a real difference to how often (or not in this case) that I feel I absolutely must wash my hair. You may be wondering why I've not mentioned the accompanying conditioner in this review and the reason for that is simple - I've been the shampoo with other conditioners that were in my bathroom cupboards and I've not noticed any varying results depending on the conditioner so I'm going to assume that the shampoo can do a good enough job by itself based on my experiences. I do use dry shampoo around 2 days after washing my hair with this shampoo (so on average, the day before it will be washed again) but prior to this shampoo, I needed to use the dry shampoo the next day so that's still a big improvement and you may be able to improve this further if you were to use the accompanying shampoo too but I've not been doing this.
***WILL I BE BUYING AGAIN?***
I have stacks of other shampoos in the cupboard that I really need to work my way through before I can justify spending money on yet another one (yes, even £1!) but I'll be getting some of this again as soon as possible after that as I've really enjoyed the improvement in my hair type.
While it's always nice to find shampoos that promise to de-frizz your hair, or increase volume etc, basically the main thing I want from a shampoo is clean, fresh-smelling hair. Fresh Balance Shampoo definitely delivers this.
This shampoo comes in 400ml or 200ml bottles, and costs around £2.13 for the smaller bottle and £3.56 for the larger bottle - I am going by Boots prices but you may be able to find this for a lot cheaper.
The packaging is a bright lime green with small writing. You can see how much of the product is left inside, and the bottle stands on its end so you can dispense it easily.
This promises 'icy pineapple and cotton extracts' which to me sounds clean, fresh and pure. It smells more like apples than anything else but it's very pleasant. The shampoo is a clear greenish liquid and it lathers up very well. Maybe it's my imagination but it does feel cool against your scalp as you're shampooing.
It rinses out very well also, and your hair feels about as squeaky clean as it can be. You can wash it again but washing it once is probably sufficient. Because it's clarifying, it can leave your hair a little tattier than some shampoos once you rinse it, but if you have a good enough conditioner this should not be a big issue.
Having highlighted hair I do worry that this shampoo might 'strip' my colour as it clarifies, but I haven't found this to be the case.
You are left with very clean, lovely smelling hair with no build-up. It says it is for normal and oily hair but my hair would tend towards the dry side, yet this product doesn't dry it out further.
At the moment I use Aussie Mega Shampoo which also cleans my hair very well but this is purely down to the fact that my local Sainsbury's does not seem to stock this, even though it has the other products in the Herbal Essences range. I think next time I need to buy shampoo, I will be making a trip to Boots purely to get this. Fab.
This was the first ever product I bought from the Herbal Essences range and I was very impressed. I have very greasy roots and figured this would be perfect for me.
The shampoo lathers very well, and the smell is certainly very fresh and clean. It smells very natural but it is a very pleasant smell. It was easy to rinse out and left it feeling smooth.
I like that this product doesn't dry out the ends of my hair, but still leaves my roots feeling fresh and clean. It leaves it soft and shiny and i'm generally very impressed. In general, it enabled me to go a little longer before washing. I also liked the natural shine that this product gave my hair.
The products are cheap and quite often on offer at most supermarkets. They come in quite large bottles and are very good value for money. The packaging is funky and really attractive, particularly on the supermarket shelves. They are very practical and durable, and dispense a good amount of product.
This is genuinely a great product, especially for those on a budget. It is great for use everyday. It removes build up which is great for those who use lots of stylish products.
Another beauty product review, my reputation as a man may be in danger here!
Yes, we all probably use Shampoo and I never remember all which ones have been in our bathroom as the wife is often led by offers. I've sure she's had this range before and no doubt this one as it is suitable for her hair, but I never remember anyway. I grabbed a go of this the other day and it was alright.
we've got the 400ml bottle which I know cost £3.69 in Sainsbury's. IT was on a buy one get one free through so the wife got the matching Conditioner.
The bottle is pretty large, as i'm sure you would expect for the size. It looks like the Dooyoo picture and it is easy enough to hold and open this, but I have used easier ones. Then again the larger the bottle often the more fiddly it can be.
This is for normal and Oily hair. This contains Cotton extract and icy pineapple. All sounds nice. I found that after using this my hair felt soft and had a shine to it. I could smell the Pineapple smell and it was all very fresh and nice enough.
A little of this Gel Shampoo seems to go a long way, and I think it is quite a good buy.
A nice fresh Shampoo.
My hair is a right nightmare! I suffer from greasy roots and a dry mid, frizzy mid section. Finding a shampoo that doesn't simply help one area of my hair but doesn't upset another can be incredibly hard and in fact up until using this shampoo the only other range of shampoos and conditioners that I found suitable for my hair type and that in turn I love is the 'Naked' range.
However more often than not Herbal Essence shampoos and conditioners are on offer and although I was initially put off by the simple bottle that this comes in and the liquid being a plain green colour I opted to give a whirl!
I purchased this in a 400ml size (though other sizes are available) bottle. It is a clear plastic slightly curvy bottle with a bright green flip-top lid to the top of it and on the front of the bottle I am told that it is Clairol Herbal Essences, Fresh Balance Clarifying Shampoo 'Icy pineapple & cotton extracts' and that 'I am perfect balance for Normal/Oily Hair'. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it, ingredients and the size is stated and contact details for Procter & Gamble are given (the manufacturer of the product). This is an informative enough bottle, easy to handle and simple and therefore unisex looking in its appearance.
A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given On the Back Of The Bottle:
I'll gently purify your hair by sweeping away excess oil and styling build up. Clear your head with my refreshing potion, made with icy pineapple and cotton extracts. I'm a lean, clean, freshness regime. Especially with my balancing conditioner. Go on, clean up your act!
Well you use this as you would any other shampoo of course. All you need of this (even on long hair like mine) is bout the size of a 10p piece of the dark green, transparent and smooth liquid that is rather runny and to lather it up within damp/wet hair, rinse and repeat if desired.
The smell of this is really fresh and clean. It has a sweet but rather natural smell of pineapple to it that really is fruity but not harsh or too in your face. It lathers up into big thick white bubbles and feels slightly hydrating as it goes which I wasn't expecting at all from a shampoo that is removing grease and grub from hair and I usually find this sort of shampoo removes natural oils from my hair and it feels dry just when washing it....this isn't like that I'm happy to report!
I found this easy to rinse out of my locks and as usual I rinsed and repeated the process with complete ease.
This left my hair in great condition, soft and supple and feeling clean. The fragrance lingered beautifully on my hair for a good few hours to making it feeling fresher for longer and the natural oils obviously wernt ripped out of my hair cos I had a nice natural shine to my hair. Not one bit of my hair felt dried out and this helped minimise frizz and styling my hair was also easy after using this.
This is simply a great everyday and effective shampoo. A little bit of it goes a long way indeed and all in all I really do like this simple and gorgeous fragranced shampoo alot and won't hesitate in purchasing it time and time again in the future. It really does not only remove grease effectively from my hair it helps stop it coming back so fast too and my hair even feels lighter after using this cos it gently removes any build up created by styling products too!
Expect to pay about £3.49 for the 400ml sized bottle and about £2.09 for the 200ml bottle (prices taken from Boots website) but they are also available from all good chemists and supermarkets etc.
Apart from smelling great, and looking good, a shampoo has to actually address your hair concerns to be worth the price. I've got terribly oily hair, and on my quest to find a suitable shampoo, I found that Herbal Essences do produce a shampoo specifically for this concern. I purchased a 400ml bottle recently from Superdrug for £3.25 on buy one get one free.
Herbal Essences Fresh Balance is a clarifying shampoo that promises to purify hair by sweeping away any excess oil and styling product build up. I do use a serum while styling my hair and I am concerned that this may build up and contribute to my greasies. I only use serum from mid lenght to the ends, and keep it away from the roots though.
One of the things I really like about the Herbal Essences ranges are the stylish bottles. This one is a lovely shade of green, has an easy to use press down lid, so no messing about with removable tops in the shower. Just press down the top, give it a gentle squeeze, and you are good to go.
This shampoo contains the ingredients icy pineapple and cotton extracts which I assume do help in the fight against oil and build up. One thing is for certain though, the ingredients make this shampoo smell absolutely amazing. It is fresh, invigorating, and does have a nice cool fragrance and feel when washing hair.
All you need is a small dollop to get a really good thick lather going. I find that with this shampoo I don't need to rinse and repeat, one wash is good enough. The shampoo rinses out easily and leaves hair feeling squeaky clean. I then follow with a good sized blob of the conditioner from the same range.
After using this my hair does feel lovely and clean, there is no tell tale residue left over from styling products, just lovely scented clean fresh hair. After drying my hair feels soft, silky and manageable.
It does work with regard to the oiliness. I feel that the condition has improved and my hair seems less oily between washes. Normally by the end of the day my hair would look a bit greasy around the roots, but after using this my hair looks clean and fresh all day. I don't notice the oiliness until I was my hair the following morning.
Would I recommend this shampoo? Yes definitely, it looks good on the bathroom shelf, smells like a vacation in a bottle, combats the greasies and makes my hair soft, shiny and manageable. Thank you Herbal Essences I think I've found a winner!
Since Herbal Essences had their big image overhaul I havent actually tried any of their "new" shampoos (not that I can remember anyway) Ive just stuck to using their older designs because they are basically the same but cheaper. However my mom has gone crazy lately and bought about 20 different shampoos and conditioners for us to use - I swear she thinks there is going to be a worldwide shortage or something. Anyway this shampoo is one of those products that she came home with and the first one I decided to try alongside the matching conditioner which I will review later. I always expect products from this brand to be brilliant whether they are from the old range or the new and when it came to using this one I had the same high expectations - and I have to say I was not at all disappointed as this is another fabulous product from a great range.
This particular shampoo is actually designed to clarify and restore the balance of your hair making sure it doesnt become greasy for much longer than usual. I never listen to those sort of claims though to be honest because often they are total rubbish I just form my own opinions on the product and decide whether or not I like it overall - as long as its cleans my hair Im not to bothered. A 200ml bottle of this shampoo will set you back around £1.99 which isnt actually that much compared to other brands and Herbal Essences are ALWAYS on sale in supermarkets so you will probably be able to get it for much less than that.
I think everyone knows how to use shampoo by now so Im not going to waste my time in writing insructions but I definately reckon a little goes a long way with this one. As it lathers up really well you only need a little bit even if youve got long hair like me so one bottle should last you absolutely ages! Careful with the bottle though the first time I went to use this it squirted out over the bath instead of my hand - then again that might have been down to the fact that I wasnt paying to much attention LOL.
Now Herbal Essences describe the smell of this shampoo as "icy pineapple with cotton extracts" but this doesnt smell anything like that in my opinion. However it does smell nice all the same but to me it smells of apples more than anything else but which a really floral scent in the background that is still pretty noticable. The fragrance is proper nice and makes you hair smell super fresh for ages - in fact I think the scent of this lasts longer on your hair than any shampoo Ive ever used and believe me I have tried a LOT! Even after your hair is dry and styled the scent is still really noticable and for me that is possibly the best thing about this product.
I reckon this did a great job on my hair and I dont think it dried it out in the slightest. My hair was really managable and easy to style afterwards and it still smelled amazing so I dont think theres anything wrong with this shampoo really. One thing is that it did strip my colour a tiny bit but it isnt designed specifically for coloured hair so I dont think I can really complain about that - apart from that though I absolutely loved this. I do recommend using the conditioner alongside this for the best results but I fully recommend this shampoo to everyone! Im usnsure whether or not this keeps your hair cleaner for longer but its good all the same - I didnt think it would anyway if Im honest.

This is overall a good product.
The 400ml bottle is a perfect size and the shape of the bottle is attractive. It easy to store in your bathroom cupboard and good looking enough to leave on display by your bath/shower. The green colour is perfect seeing as its trying to advertise a "clarifying shampoo" which i believe it is. It has just enough information on the front of the bottle to decided whether this is the product for you or not. Also the bottle is clear so you can see when your getting low.
Does it work:
Yea i would say that it does what it says on the tin. " I am a perfect balance for normal/oily hair. It smells fresh and that smell lasts for a long time, "icy pineapple and cotton extracts" You don't need to use to much as it lathers very well which is good as i don't like to put too much product on my hair as it gets greasy easy so all good so far.
I can generally find this product buy one get one free in most supermarkets or Wilkinson's so i never have to pay for both the shampoo and conditioner. It normally retails' at just over £3.00 but this is the larger bottle and last me about 3 to 4 weeks.
Personally i believe this is a good product as it works very well for me as i do have a tendency to get greasy hair quickly. The price is good and it smells lovely!!
