Advantages: It removes excess grease, letting you go longer without washing your hair
Disadvantages: It tended to dry out my ends without conditioner
Unfortunately, I have greasy hair that has to be washed every other day to avoid the 'just dipped my head in a chip pan' look, and am always looking out for a wonder shampoo that can combat this and allow me to leave a couple of days between washes.
*Packaging*
The Herbal Essences 'Fresh Balance' shampoo comes in a very appealing dark green bottle. The bottle itself has a flat shape, but is curved inwards around the edges, allowing for ease when picking it up with wet hands! The contours of the bottle actually match up with the conditioner like a jigsaw puzzle, which saves a lot of space in the shower (or encourages you to buy another of their products!) and the top of the bottle only requires a simple push to reveal the opening to the shampoo. I like that this bottle has been made very easy to use in the shower.
*Product*
The product itself stays true to the bottle, being a dark transparent green in colour. Since they have revamped the range, this shampoo now contains citrus blossom and green tea extracts, whose pleasant smells are released as soon as you open the bottle. I use two washes to get a good lather because my hair is very thick, but it does a very good job and I can imagine people with normal hair would only need to use one wash. You can definitely feel the shampoo clarifying your hair and washing away all the previous products, and it allowed me to go 2 days in between washes without my roots looking greasy, also leaving my hair smelling very fresh and of the scents within the shampoo.
*Price*
I bought a 200ml bottle of this shampoo from ASDA when it was on sale so I got it for £1.00, although the ordinary price is around £1.75 and higher for a 400ml bottle. Considering the amount of washes you can get from one bottle, I'd say this is a fair price! At other places it can be a much higher price though, so keep a lookout for the deals at supermarkets and other stores.
*Overall*
A really good shampoo that tackles excess grease and leaves hair smelling wonderful. It is often on sale, but the original price is also a fair one and you can get a lot of washes from one bottle! I would recommend this to anyone with greasy hair.
Summary: A great shampoo for oily hair
