Advantages: a very pretty colour shampoo!

Disadvantages: it didn't work on my hair.

The first thought that sprang to mind when I saw the adverts for this product was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" And when I received a sample each of the shampoo and conditioner in my Boots.com order and tried them, I was actually rather annoyed that the Herbal Essences range had been changed - what was wrong with it the way it was?? It smelt gorgeous and it worked!! Now... well.. I wasn't impressed!

I cant really review the actual packaging because I only had the little samples, but I've seen it in the shops and it's packaged in a strange-shaped, turquoise coloured bottle. The liquid inside is a shiny, glossy, opaque light-blue. It's quite a thick liquid which gives the impression it will be nourishing and hydrating and be very beneficial to the hair. It did lather very well and rinse off well - there didn't seem to be that sticky residue which some of these very nourishing shampoos leave behind. It has a quite overpowering smell which reminded me of a mixture of bubblegum and coconuts, and during the day the smell remained on my hair and made me feel a bit sick! It's a too-sweet, sickly kind of smell which is especially awful if you get caught in the rain like I did as it seems to intensify the smell.
When I dried my hair it was tangly, dry and kind of sticky and fluffy! This surprised me, as, like I said earlier, there didn't seem to be any residue after rinsing. So, I was stuck all day with fluffy, dull, sticky hair which smelt as bad as it looked! I was very glad that I had the samples as there is no way I would ever buy this stuff.
I'm so dissappointed that they have changed this product - I have used Herbal Essences for years - I love the smell, and my hair responds well to it. I really hope that this range is just adding to their whole range, rather than replacing it, although I'm sure it is replacing it as there was a leaflet in with the samples with pictures of the shamppoos and conditioners in the old range and then the new range.
To be fair to this product, I have very fine "baby-hair" which doesn't really like many shampoos or conditioners - most of them are too heavy for it. But it's damaged as well as fine, so I tend to use products for damaged hair in the hope that they will help! And my mum used her samples that she got and really liked them, apart from the smell!

Summary: I don't know why they bothered to revamp a perfectly good product
