Having been quite a fan of Clairol Herbal Essences range of shampoo and conditioners for a number of years, I felt some dismay when I heard Clairol were making some big changes to the Herbal Essences range.
This was because a couple of the shampoos for normal - greasy hair had a lovely unique smell, unlike any other shampoo I have ever came across. They gave good results, I bought them often, and they were a firm favourite of mine.

I was hoping that any changes they made to the range would not affect the fragrance of my favourites.
In fact, I couldn't see why they had to change them at all, but that is just my opinion. Products are constantly being 'improved' by the manufacturers.

This new range appeared on the shelves in their totally revamped and re-packaged form. Vibrant colours such as blue and hot pink plastic bottles, almost glowing on the shelves. Gone were the old see-through bottles, and worse still, gone were the fragrances I loved!
After smelling the new fragrances I was not very impressed at all, but as the shampoo was on offer at only £1 a bottle, I decided I would try it.

I chose this Hello Hydration shampoo as my long hair can sometimes feel dry at the ends, so the promise of hydration, moisture and shine lured me in, along with the orchid and coconut extracts.
The packaging told me that 'Luscious shine starts with hydration, so take a deep dive into high shine'.

The bottle is a very bright blue colour, with a handy flip-top lid.

The shampoo is also a bright blue colour and has quite a thick consistency. It also smells strongly of coconut, which I thought was ok at first, when just sniffing the bottle in the shop, but when I came to use it I found the smell quite sickly and overpowering!

I found I needed to use quite a lot of the shampoo as it did not seem to lather up too well, and after rinsing off the shampoo my hair felt quite dry, certainly not hydrated!

I was not pleased at all with the results and my hair felt as if it had not been washed. It felt dry and looked dull. I could smell the coconut fragrance on my hair, but as I've already said, I found it quite sickly.

I was really disappointed with this shampoo, and even tried another one in the range, but again was not impressed. I am sorry to say that in my opinion this new Herbal Essences range does not live up to its predecessor!

Why did Clairol have to change the Herbal Essences range? I really miss the 'old' ones, they were lovely shampoo's with gorgeous fragrances.
One of my favourite shampoo ranges is sadly no longer a favourite with me.

Change is not always for the better!

Summary: A shampoo which promises so much but fails to deliver.

I think my daughter is the only person who likes this shampoo and it really seems to suit her hair.

What a shame they have spoilt one of your favourites, they usually discontinue ones I like. X

My hair bloke always tells me these shampoos are a waste of time without an ounce of anything good for your hair in them at all. I have to say, I find you have to spend quite a bit on shampoo to make your hair feel really 'nice'.

Sounds like what happened when I used conditioner thinking it was shampoo!
