Advantages: Leaves my hair clean and shiny

Disadvantages: Doesnt smell as nice as other products in the range and doesnt moisturise as well as some shampoos

I recently bought some Herbal Essences shampoo for Tesco which was on a buy one get one free offer and am now using the second bottle which is the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisture and Shine Shampoo. It's from the new range of Herbal Essences Shampoos which have been redesigned, rebranded and repackaged.

The shampoo is designed for dry and damaged hair and contains orchid and coconut extracts.

The shampoo comes in a clear wavy plastic bottle with a bright turquoise and green flip top cap. The bottle holds 400ml but you can get smaller 250ml bottles too. My bottle cost £3.26 from Tesco but it was on a buy one get one free offer and you could mix and match between conditioners and shampoos, I chose to get two shampoos as I go through the shampoos quicker than the conditioner.

The back of the bottle tells me that this shampoo will "replenish your pretty parched head" so lets see whether it did or not.

The back of the bottle also has "Herbalhead games" which are questions and answers which you need to have both the shampoo and conditioner to work it out. They really are pushing you to buy both products as they then go on to say how the conditioner will further improve my hair.

The shampoo is a lovely bright turquoise colour so not exactly natural then! It disappointingly doesn't really smell terribly much like coconuts but has a more synthetic smell which is I suppose a mixture of fruity and floral. It's not an unpleasant smell at all but it's a bit disappointing as I would have like a really strong coconut smell.

It lathers up really well and I get lots of bubbles when I use it, it also rinses out of your hair really easily too.

After using it my hair does feel softer and is clean and full of bounce. I have read some reviews where people have said that the shampoo felt awful in their hair but I have to say that I really didn't find this a problem. It may be that this is one of those shampoos that suits some people but not others so if you want to try it, it might be best just to buy a small bottle first.

However I found that the Herbal Essences Seductively Straight which is the bright pink shampoo was so much better than this as it smelt better and left my hair much more moisturised than this one. Although I thought this shampoo was ok I wouldn't rush out and buy it again as I think there are much better products out there.

Summary: A shampoo that is ok but not great, there are better ones in the range
