Advantages: Nice smell which lingers for a while, feels like a luxorious product to treat your hair with
Disadvantages: Wont work miracles to moisturise your hair like the images in the advertisements (but nothing does!)
I saw a lot of promotion for the new Herbal Essences range, both on TV and at the supermarkets, so decided to treat myself to a few bottles whilst they were on offer.
Herbal Essences is a brand I can say I trust, having never found any of their products less than satisfactory. Despite seeing some slightly negative comments on their Hello Hydration shampoo, I quite liked it!
Okay, so you wont get 100% hydration leaving your hair looking full, thick and luxuriously shiny like in the ads, but it smells great and leaves your hair feeling cared for.
This comes in blue bottle, curved in shape to match the conditioner when put side by side, which is a nice design. There's a funky design on the front sticker too, so in terms of appearance this shampoo is very attractive. There's a green push top which is at the base of the bottle, which is more convenient to use than a screw lid, especially when in the shower.
The bottles come in 2 different sizes: 400 ml (£3.37 Boots, currently buy one get one free September '09) and 200ml (£1.95). I would say this is a bit pricey, but it's about average for a high-street brand which is considered to be quite prestigious and popular. That said, I wouldn't buy this frequently at full price as there are often offers on, such as being half price when they were initially introduced quite recently (I'm a bit of a bargain hunter in case you haven't already noticed!).
Does it live up to its claims? Well, you only need to use a small blob for it to be massaged into wet hair easily, creating a good lather. The first thing I noticed was the smell, quite sweet coconut oil, and I thought it was lovely!
After using bland & boring shampoos for a while, just the smell and thick lather from Hello Hydration was enough to lift my mood, as it felt like a treat for my hair. The smell wasn't too overpowering, but strong enough to last after I had dried my hair, and I even had some compliments about the smell afterwards.
After washing with this shampoo, my hair did feel cleaner and refreshed, and once dried, it did seem to have a bit more life to it. After a few uses, I would say I noticed a small difference, though nothing major, to the overall look of my hair, which looked and felt softer & smoother.
Overall, whilst this wont work miracles, I thought it was a lovely shampoo to use because it feels like a treat for your hair. It has a lovely smell and does leave your hair feeling more nourished, so I would recommend giving it a try.
Summary: Whilst not outrageously amazing, it's a llovely smelling shampoo that nourishes your hair
