Advantages: Leaves hair feeling great

Disadvantages: None

Herbal Essences is a range of shampoos ive been using for years off and on, and ive used different many of the different types of shampoos that they offer too. I have hair that gets greasy after about one day so I have to wash my hair every day to prevent this. Certain types of shampoos make my hair get greasy even quicker than this, sometimes I wash my hair in the night and wake up with it greasy, so I have to be selective. Even more annoyingly, the ends of my hair can get a bit dry and strawy sometimes so I have to try and get the right balance of a shampoo to remove the greasy and moisurise the ends.

Initially I used the herbal essences "greasy hair" shampoo which is the light blue one. This unfortunately made my hair greasier than normal the next day so I stopped using that quick. Maybe the "greasy hair" on the front of the bottle means thats what its going to give you hehe.

These days I am using the normal hair product, which claims to be a moisture balancing shampoo. It comes in a 400ml clear plastic bottle so that you can see the clear yellow shampoo through it and you can tell how much is left easily. It has a fliptop lid and you just turn it upside down and squeeze out the amount you want to use. The three main "essences" it contains are chamomile, aloe vera and passion flower, and on the back on the bottle you can see through to a picture of I presume chamomile flowers, they look very much like daisies but very pretty nonetheless. The shampoo has a very faint scent which I am trying to decide if it is like chamomile tea, I think it is slightly, but it is such a light scent its hard to tell.

Generally I wash my hair in the sink and use a jug to pour the water over my hair. My hair is long so i use a large amount, about twice a 50p sized blob in my hand. I wet my hair first and then apply the shampoo. There is a huge amount of lather with this one, I always think that when theres more lather my hair is getting cleaner but I guess this is probably not accurate and that there are special chemicals added to make it lather.

This shampoo holds off the greasy for the whole of the next day after I have used it. This is a great result for me. I dont ususally use any condition after this as I find the ends of my hair dont need it, the moisurisation in this product is excellent for this.

One thing I never do is use the same shampoo every night, my hair fares better if I alturnate them and so I have a rotation of about 4 shampoos that I use, but this shampoo is always present in it.

Having a look on tesco price check now I can see the price varys quite a bit. It is 2.38 in tesco, 2.98 in sainsburys and 1.49 in morrisons. Quite often you can find it on 2 for price of 1 aswell.

So I may not be quite as excited as the women in the adverts for this product, probably due to my consumption of agnus castus, but I do think it is an excellent shampoo which I highly recommend over the greasy hair variety even if your hair is oily.

Summary: Great shampoo
