      Herbal Essences Silk'n'Shine Conditioner

I recently reviewed the Silk'n'Shine Shampoo by Herbal Essences, and I am now reviewing the conditioner that they suggest using following the shampoo. This product is part of the original Herbal Essences range that they have re-introduced because of popular demand and to also help boost sales that seem to have dropped despite having Nicole Scherzinger advertise their range of products. This conditioner contains Rose Hips, Jojoba extracts and Vitamin E which all help to leave your hair shining, silky and luscious. Although I have coloured hair so should probably be using a coloured shampoo and conditioner, I really wanted to see what this product was like which is why I decided to purchase them. Although Herbal Essences did an original shampoo & conditioner for coloured hair, I don't think they have re-released these products which is a shame. The conditioner comes in a bottle the same shape and size as the conditioner which is tall and wide but slightly flat. The bottle is a light pink colour and isn't clear like the bottle that the shampoo comes in but is more of a solid pink colour. The lid to the bottle is the same as the shampoo which is a dark green colour and flips open to reveal a small hole in which the product dispenses out of. The packaging to the product is very different to the newly designed Herbal Essences range and doesn't look as modern, although I think the classic range looks nicer and also looks better in the bathroom as well.

You can purchase this conditioner along with the shampoo from most Boots stores. I am pretty sure I purchased the conditioner when it was half price; how-ever the full price of the conditioner is £3.79, which I think is reasonable for a 400ml bottle of the product.

For best results use this conditioner after using the Silk'n'Shine Shampoo. Simply massage the luxurious conditioner into your hair enjoying the revitalising fragrance and then simply rinse out when ready. I had already used the Silk'n'Shine shampoo which had a gorgeous scent to it. After squeezing the excess moisture out of my hair I flipped back the lid and got ready to use the product. I felt the product in one hand and squeezed it slightly so that some of the product dispensed into the palm of my other hand. The conditioner bottle was easy to hold, even with wet hands. The conditioner came out easily and wasn't too thick but had the consistency I would expect from a conditioner. The conditioner is white in colour and I found it really easy to apply to my hair. Just like the shampoo, this conditioner has a gorgeous rose like scent to it which is divine. After washing the product out I wrapped my hair in a towel for a few minutes to ensure that my hair wasn't dripping wet and to help absorb any excess water that I hadn't already squeezed out. I used a wide tooth plastic comb to comb through my hair whilst it was wet.

I found that the comb seemed to glide through my hair easily without catching on any knots or tangles, which is a little unusual with my hair as there's always a few tangles in my hair after washing it. I then flipped my hair back and got ready to dry it. I do normally apply product to my hair such as a leave in conditioner or hair treatment; how-ever on this occasion I wasn't going to because I wanted to see how the product performed. I started to dry my hair as normal and as I did this I could smell the gorgeous scent of the product in my hair which made my hair feel extremely clean and fresh. After drying my hair I looked in the mirror at the results to see if there were any noticeable differences. My hair looked really healthy and it also looked nice and shiny and didn't have as much frizz or as many wispy hairs as it normally does. Not only did it look good but it felt soft to the touch and felt in really good condition. I loved the way this product made my hair feel and look. I loved that I could still smell the scent of the product slightly in my hair as well. The conditioner was very kind to my hair and scalp and I experienced no reactions after using the product. I normally wash my hair every 3rd day and I was still able to do this as normal as the product didn't make my hair any greasier than my previous shampoo and conditioner would.

After using the shampoo in this range and seeing a slight difference in my hair, I was hoping I would see even more of a difference when using the conditioner after the shampoo. Just like the shampoo I love the packaging of the product as I think it's attractive but also stands out in comparison to other hair products. There's no doubt that I prefer this packaging to the current Herbal Essences range. The conditioner was nice and also very easy to use and it had a gorgeous smell which gives your hair a lovely fresh, clean feeling. I found that the conditioner also washed out easily. As I washed the conditioner out my hair, I could actually feel the difference already as it felt a lot smoother and softer than what it normally would when washing conditioner out of my hair. It was easy to run a comb through my hair after washing it which impressed me and despite not using a leave in conditioner or hair product like I normally do when drying my hair, it looked just as good after drying it. My hair definitely felt and looked much healthier than it had done before as there was a nice shine to my hair and it also appeared to look smoother too. The smell of the product didn't last for any longer than around a day in my hair but it was nice that it lasted this long. In terms of value I think the product is very reasonable and even better value if you do manage to get it for half price like I am sure I did. After trying this product along with the shampoo I really do hope that they now release the original colour shampoo (Shimmering Colour), as I expect and hope it would be as good as this one. I don't know if I would purchase this product again as I do prefer to use colour shampoos and conditioner but I would definitely recommend it to others.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A conditioner that smells great and leaves hair shiny.

I have the Herbal Essences Silk n' Shine Conditioner which I bought along with the counterpart shampoo after seeing those memorable television adverts where the lady groans and moans with pleasure as she is washing her hair! I'm not usually a sucker for believing claims in commercials but I really wanted to see if the product lived up to my expectations. I'd also had this recommended by a friend who claimed the aroma had to be smelled to be believed!

I have the conditioner for Dry and/or Damaged hair. This comes in a gaudy pink bottle adorned with the brand logo, a pink rose. The shampoo is in a clear bottle but the liquid is colour co-ordinated and is pink too. I have the sturdy 400ml sized bottle. This is an affordable conditioner which retails at around £2 a bottle. The bottle has a flip top opening that clicks securely and stays closed when you need it to. I would recommend, however, taping this top down if you are taking a bottle on holiday as it is quite easy to snap open. The dispenser hole is quite large so a good amount comes out when you squeeze.

The strong aroma of the product is obvious even just when you open the top. When you squeeze the liquid into your hand the smell is even stronger. The aroma is very fruity and fresh - like a blend of exotic fruits. It evokes images of boquets of flowers too. The wording on the bottle does not describe what the scent actually is but the added ingredients include Vitamin E, jojoba extracts and rose hips. It is quite astonishing but the smell is so strong that my entire upstairs in my house is tainted by the aroma after I've washed my hair!

The conditioner is thick and quite greasy. It is white in colour with a glossy sheen to it. I need to use a couple of dollops for my long hair. It is easy to work through the hair and allows you to untangle any knots with your fingers. I can feel it sort of sticking to my hair shafts as I work it in and it thickens the hair to some degree. When I rinse the conditioner off my hair feels full and stronger.

In the styling stage my damp hair feels very easy to manage and the dry ends look sleek and shiny. When hair is fully dry the hair has a clean, shiny appearance and looks tamed, not frizzy or unmanageable. The smell of the conditioner lingers on the hair for the whole day after washing.

I would recommend using the shampoo that goes with this to get the full effect or 'experience'. The conditioner more than meets my expectations and that television advert with the lady in ecstasy over the fragrance is not a case of over-acting or inflated claims either!
