Advantages: Smells lovely, leaves hair clean and shiny
Disadvantages: None for me
I always like to try out different shampoos so when I was shopping a few weeks ago and saw some shampoo on a two for the price of one offer I couldn't resist. The shampoo was Clairol Herbal Essences Silk N'Shine shampoo. I had tried a few Herbal Essences shampoos before and liked them so was keen to see if this was as good. The shampoo costs around £2.92 for a 400ml bottle and is available in most supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug and other chemist stores. It pays to shop around as it is often on special offer in store and you can pick up a bargain.
The shampoo is designed for dry and damaged hair especially hair that has been coloured or permed. It contains rose hips, jojoba extracts and vitamin E. The shampoo is said to -
Protect hair's radiant vitality
Penetrate and help replenish hair's natural moisture
Leave hair luxuriously silky and shining with radiance
The shampoo is said to have a revitalising fragrance and will leave you refreshed and your hair at its most beautiful.
The shampoo comes in a 400ml clear plastic bottle. It has a flip top cap at the top which is quite stiff and wouldn't be very easy to open for those with arthritic hands. Looking through the bottle you can see a picture of roses. Now I didn't really notice this in the shop I just looked at the shampoo saw it was for dry and damaged hair and bought it. When I went to use it and saw the roses I thought "Oh no, this is going to stink of roses." Its not that I dislike the smell of roses, I don't, I love the smell of roses in the garden but I don't like rose scented products, I find that they are often rather overpowering and a bit sickly. I opened the lid and took a sniff and was pleasantly surprised and also relieved. The shampoo smells fresh and floral but not particularly rose scented in my opinion. It has a lovely smell and I really like it. It is a girly smell and as the shampoo is pink and pictures of roses I would say (without trying to be sexist) that they are aiming at the female market here.
The shampoo is a pale pink colour and is moderate consistency. It foams up well in your hair and you get a good lather and the scent fills the air. Its easy enough to rinse out and my hair feels squeaky clean. Drying my hair I can smell the lovely fresh floral smell again under the heat of the hairdryer. My hair feels clean, soft and smooth. It also appears a bit shinier than before and sits well during the day. The scent also stays for a long time after washing which is nice too.
So does it do what it says on the tin? Well I would say yes, I do feel that it protects and replenishes my hair. As I get my hair highlighted and I use straighteners regularly I do worry that my hair will get dry and damaged so I do look for products that will help against this. This shampoo leaves my hair silky and shiny so I am pretty pleased with it.
I really like this shampoo, it smells great and it leaves my hair soft, shiny and smooth. It is fairly good value for money especially if you can buy it when its on offer. I will certainly be buying this one again, well that is unless another shampoo I haven't tried is on special offer and I am tempted away!
Summary: A lovely floral smelling shampoo that leaves hair shiny
