Advantages: Smells yum, makes your hair look beaut, is cheap/free with Clairol dye.

Disadvantages: Small tube :(

I often use Clairol hair dye when I can't face forking out £70 to get my hair dyed professionally, and I prefer this brand as it's frequently on offer in Superdrug (often 2 for £5 or even cheaper) and the range of colours is immense.

The Nice 'n Easy Colour Seal Conditioner comes free with all Clairol permanent hair dyes (please note, the semi permanent 24/16 wash dyes only come with a small sachet as opposed to the tube pictured), and the type of conditioner you receive is dependent on the shade you buy. I am a dark blonde and usually buy a light, ash blond shade, so I get Colour Seal Gloss No.3, which comes in a gold coloured tube. My mother uses a red shade, and this (understandably) comes in a red tube, although I've noticed the product inside looks remarkably similar! So I'm not sure there's a great difference between the colours... But regardless, it is available in separate conditioners formulated for blondes, redheads and brunettes.

You can now buy this conditioner separately too, which was a great move from Clairol as for years my friends and I have been saying that nothing is so nice on your hair as the conditioner you get with dye kits! I *think* it costs about 99p to buy on its own, which is a bargain as the tube will last a good week. If you use it intermittently as a hair mask, it could last months. The tube is 30ml in size.

My experience with the product:

First thing you notice when you take off the cap is the smell. It's like coconuts and fruit and basically everything you want your hair to smell like! It actually is heavenly, and it's so good at masking the ammonia smell you can sometimes get after dyeing your hair.

I apply this to the tips of my hair when dyeing my roots, and then once I've washed out the dye I'll apply it all over and leave it on for about 25 mins. If I'm just using this for a 'top up' conditioner on a normal day, I'll leave it on five minutes before rinsing. The conditioner starts to work instantly, so it's not necessary to leave it on, but I like to as this means it penetrates the hair shaft more and makes it much shinier - also it protects against damage as just-bleached hair can be very delicate.

When you wash out the Colour Seal conditioner, you immediately notice how soft your hair is. I found it makes my hair almost 'slippery', which is unusual as my hair is naturally curly and quite wirey as a result of the endless rigmarole of dyeing and styling I put it through! When my hair is dry I find it much more manageable and not at all frizzy, and it smells beautiful for days after!

One thing to note though, is that on Clairol's website they state that this product is designed to 'seal in' colour and keep it looking as fresh as the day your hair was coloured, for up to 6 weeks after. This is some claim for a lowly conditioner, and I'm not sure it's precisely correct. However, it is a good, quality conditioner that keeps your hair looking nice, regardless of whether your colour remains as vibrant as they claim it should!

All in all, this product is faultless in doing its job as a rich conditioner for damaged hair. The only thing I would change would be the size of the tube - I would prefer 100ml or more so I didn't keep running out!
