Advantages: good colour, lots of conditioner
Disadvantages: slightly gloopy but could use less
This is my favourite hair dye. I recently used the other major brand Garnier and I can share with you my comparison:
Clairol box is normal whereas Garniers box has a handy perforated hole - this can annoyingly mean that hair dye can get on your bathroom unintentionally.
Clairol has two mixer bottles, instructions, gloves and conditioner in the box. The gloves are better than Garnier- there are slim fitting, are latex and have a quite closed and long wrist section so dye does not get on your wrists and the gloves fall off.
The lotion itself feels generous - there was more than enough to coat my long mid-thickness hair; the only potential downside it that it can feel a little gloopy when on- I had to put vaseline around my scalp to stop some smudging onto my skin.
The conditioner is excellent; a huge thing in Clairols favour is that there are easily six applications in the conditioner tube and therefore you can continue to moisturise your hair after you dye it. This will be needed as your hair tends to feel quite dry (albeit very shiny) after use.
The colour guide is genuine, I have used three of their colours and have found every one to match the guide! There are roughly 30 colours in the range so something for everyone.
Cost-wise it is very reasonable; it is often on offer in the cosmetic shops; I would recommend shopping round though because bought non-offer it can cost around seven pounds!!
Summary: Pick this as your first choice!!
