Clairol Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo
by jeanclifford
I've used a shampoo named Hello Hydration from the Herbal Essence range on a few different occasions now and it is nice though quite expensive. I think this shampoo must be a new one as it's only very recently that I've seen it available in the shops and it is such a pretty blue colour in the tall plastic bottle that it caught my eye ... whilst I was shopping in the shampoo aisle a few months ago. This shampoo cost me £3.59 for a 400ml bottle and they also have a matching conditioner, which I have also tried and also like.
I don't use any heated appliances on my hair apart from a hairdryer, but nevertheless my hair needs some added moisture every now and then, and I think this is one way of making sure it's well hydrated. My hair lacks shine too and as this shampoo says it will add shine, I was prepared to try it out. I've used lots of others in this Herbal Essence range and liked them all so far, including the conditioners.
This shampoo is nice and thick and I like the top of the bottle because you press it down on one end and this makes it pop up on the other. The shampoo comes out of the bottle easily too, as the bottle is strong but slightly bendy and this allows me to be able to slightly depress it to get the shampoo out.
The fragrance is the nicest thing about this shampoo and one of the first things you notice as soon as you take the top off. It smells of a slightly coconut background but it also have a fresh smell to it which makes me think of a summer breeze. It lathers up very well and only a very small amount is required. It really makes a lot of foam and as I have short hair, I don't need to use a great deal of this shampoo.
It rinses off well and I don't even often need to use a conditioner with this shampoo because my hair seems to be detangled and nicely soft. My hair style goes into place well after using this shampoo and it really does add moisture to the ends of my hair where it can be quite dry and brittle.
The smell also lingers on my hair for a coupe of days afterwards, which is always nice. My partner likes this shampoo and he's happy to sue it and seems quite impressed. It is expensive though as we never need to use a lot to get a good lather, it does last a long time so I am happy to pay a higher price for this.
It's a great shampoo which I love to use and it makes my hair look and feel in much better condition after I've used it. Read the complete review |

Clairol Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo
by Whizz11
Even though I have quite greasy hair at the roots, at the ends it is quite dry because I often colour my hair, use straighteners on it nearly everyday and also quite a few products too. Its a bit of a weird hair combination to be honest so I am always trying different shampoos, generally depending on what is on offer and what sounds like ... it might be good for my hair.
Herbal Essences is a range I have used for a number of years now and I always like the results I get with their shampoos and conditioners so I was excited to try this Herbal Essences hello hydration shampoo. I also bought a bottle of the conditioner too as, even though I like to change my shampoo and conditioner I always use the same brand together when I was my hair. Luckily for me too, Boots were doing an offer on buy one get one free I think it was so the two combined were cheaper which was nice.
Hello hydration is described as a shampoo which," has a shine and moisture formula which gives a luscious shine to hair with its deeply hydrating formula and replenishes parched head. It orchid and coconut extracts to quench the thirst of dry and damaged hair."
The shampoo comes in a bright blue bottle and I like this about Herbal Essences bottles as each different type of shampoo comes in a different coloured bottle but the conditioner always matches the colour of the shampoo. The bottle has a little bit on it that you press and the lid comes up to allow you to squeeze the shampoo out of the bottle. I find this quite handy and it opens and closes well. However, I have found on a number of occasions that the whole top of the bottle will come off quite easily, especially if you drop the bottle in the shower which I have done before and half the shampoo poured out before I had time to pick it up, a bit annoying but not really an issue if you don't drop the bottle!!
The shampoo is quite thick and I find it lathers up really well and you actually don't need much for each application. It goes on really easily and washes off nicely too. Now to the smell which is absolutely gorgeous. Coconut is one of the ingredients in this shampoo and you can definitely smell it in here mixed with that usual "shampoo smell." It smells just like holiday, the kind of smell you get from suntan lotion as well and it gives me a really nice feeling as well as smelling nice on my hair. I can detect the smell on my hair quite a while after I have shampooed it which is nice.
So, how did this shampoo work for me. Well, the nice thing I found and something that I was actually worried about was that it did not give extra moisture to my already greasy roots, they pretty much stayed the same and did not get greasier after a day or two which was a relief. The ends however, don't feel or look as brittle as they have done in the past and I think my hair has an extra bit of bounce and shininess to it which I really like. It's been easy to style and hasn't been fly-away at all either which is great so I would recommend this shampoo for a bit of moisture.
A 400ml bottle costs £3.89 and lasts for probably a month or so so I would say definitely good value for a good shampoo. Read the complete review |

Clairol Herbal Essences Uplifting Volume Shampoo
by CosmicLove
~~* Introduction *~~
I love the range of Herbal Essences shampoo & conditioner and I would have to say that it's one of my favourite brands when it comes to hair care because of how amazing all of the products smell and of course because of how they make my hair look and feel - they are well worth the price.
I must ... admit that I tend to buy cheap and cheerful shampoo and conditioner most of the time but when it comes to this brand I am happy to pay the full price and if I spot it on offer I will stock up. This particular shampoo - the uplifting volume one is one that I bought recently.
~~* A Freebie *~~
I bought it mainly because I had run out of shampoo but also because boots had it as part of a mix & match 3 for 2 offer and as it was the cheapest item I bought I got it for free! It retails at £3.89 for the 400ml bottle, which for the quality is a reasonable price in my opinion though there are obviously much cheaper brands which are similar in quality, but the amazing smell makes is almost good enough alone to make it worth the money!
~~* The Claims *~~
The uplifting volume shampoo is designed to add volume to hair. It contains white nectarine and pink coral flower extracts, which Herbal Essences say boosts the body of fine & normal hair. I have got quite odd hair if I'm honest as at times it feels flat and limp and other times it feels quite thick and voluptuous. I'd have to say that 99 percent of the time though it is pretty limp and I need to back comb and mess it up to get a bit of volume. So, this is why this particular shampoo appealed to me!
~~* My Opinion *~~
The bottle that the shampoo comes in is really nicely designed. It is plastic and transparent but with a dark orange tint to it. I really like shampoo bottles which are tinted rather than opaque as I am able to see exactly how much is left. The shampoo bottle has got a green flip lid and the shape of the bottle makes it very easy to grip, even with wet/damp hands. The shampoo itself is quite cool looking because its not boring old white like most shampoos are! It is an orange colour and the consistency is perfect.
It is smooth and thin enough to be easily dispensed from the small dispenser hole, but thick enough to feel luxurious and it isn't runny or watery. It does have quite a thick and luxurious feel to it. I usually use 2 large blogs and find that this is more than enough for my shoulder length hair. It spreads through my hair very easily and lathers quickly, the smell becoming stronger and stronger as I rub it over my hair.
The smell is amazing - it is really summery, fresh and light and smells a lot like peaches. The smell lingers in my hair for ages, too - usually it is still noticeable for at least a few days after I've used it, keeping it smelling fresh and clean and I have had compliments on the scent from numerous people who have been sitting next to me (friends, fiancé, my dad) so it must be quite strong, though it never smells overpowering to me while using it.
The shampoo rinses out reasonably well because the foam is pretty light, however as there is so much foam (it really does lather well!) I tend to rinse my hair off with some water in a cup afterwards just to get all of the bubbles out to avoid greasiness or dandruff - not that this shampoo has ever caused either of these things. My hair feels smooth after using it and squeaky clean - everything that you really need from a shampoo!
~~* The Results *~~
After conditioning my hair with a cheap conditioner, I them dried my hair and combed it. At this point there was obviously no noticeable difference in the volume of my hair as it was still wet. After towel drying I noticed that my hair did actually seem quite a bit more volumised, and in the mirror I could see that it appeared a lot bigger, even while damp. I was quite excited to see the end result, so I then blow dried it. My hair looked amazing! It really did look more volumised (think lions mane, lol!) and it felt bouncy and light. It also looked shiny and well cared for - not dull or limp. I am positive that these results were purely down to this shampoo, as the conditioner that I used afterwards was just a cheap basic one. The results didn't last for that long - by the next day my hair felt a little flatter but it was nice while it lasted.
~~* All In All *~~
This is a really good value shampoo. It does what it promises to do and smells amazing. It left my hair feeling soft, smooth, clean and it also left it looking shinier and, of course more volumised. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends and I would recommend it to everyone who reads this review, too. Read the complete review |
