Clinique's Exceptionally Clean Shampoo worked very well for me. I have very long, fine, slightly oily blonde hair, and have to balance richness to keep it shiny with weight, which drags it down very easily. Clinique's shampoo is very light, gently scented, and a little goes a long way. It takes a while to remember not to squeeze half a bottle into your palm when you use it. Use a small amount and then add a little more if this does not lather up sufficiently. The thin green liquid produced a lot of lather - much more than most of the thicker, more lotion-like shampoos I've used, but didn't leave my hair feeling heavy.
It certainly felt like it was giving my hair a deep clean, making my scalp tingle slightly. When dried my hair had noticeably more volume without being fly-away or looking particularly frizzy - there's always a small element of frizz as I don't believe using conditioner every wash is good for your hair, so often don't use it.
Clinique Exceptionally clean left my hair incredibly soft with a good sheen to it. It brushed through easily and lifted from the roots without blow drying (another thing I try and avoid), showing how light it had left the individual hairs. I use a huge amount of some shampoos to get all my hair lathered; when you compare the cost of half or a third of a bottle of regular shampoo with perhaps one tenth of a bottle of Clinique the price difference isn't so huge, and I certainly felt I saw enough difference to warrant the extra spend when wanting to deep clean my hair. As with many things I would not recommend using it every day, however. I use it every other wash (so once every 4-6 days) and find it keeps my hair really clean without overprocessing the ends, as many deep cleaning shampoos tend to do.
I received this shampoo, with the associated conditioner, as a Christmas present and I was unimpressed. My hair is long, dark brown and is coloured somewhat irregularly, the last time being in September. It is in good condition.
I'm unsure what was paid for the present I received but online it seems to cost about £10. In a premium brand such as this one, I would expect the shampoo to leave my hair in noticeably better condition after a months use.
It cleaned my hair, which is the least you can expect from a shampoo. I haven't noticed that the condition of my hair has improved. In fact it seems slightly drier and frizzier if anything.
The shampoo is a clear liquid, green in colour. Unlike many premium shampoos it has quite a runny consistency and it smells similar to a cheap shampoo. In short, directly from the bottle I noticed no difference from a cheap shampoo such as clairol.
The one thing I can recommend is the shape of the bottle.
I was on holiday while I used this shampoo and unlike many shampoo bottles it is neat and packs away easily, without taking up unnecessary space.
This is not a shampoo I will buy for myself.
