“ Brand: Clairol / Type: Conditioner / Subcategory: Gloss „
I use the Clairol Hair Dye range and this conditioner comes automatically with the purchase but this product is now widely sold in major retailers (eg Boots, Asdas). There seem to be a few different versions out there of varying sizes and for different hair colourants. This one I reviewed is a 57ml tube and for 'brilliant blondes'.
I have seen prices of these products vary from store to store but average price seems to be between 99p-£2.99 although on ebay it seems you can 'bulk buy' for much cheaper. In terms of value for money the packaging claims that this gives 6 weekly conditioning treatments. Initially I was very sceptical that the conditioner would go this far as the tube appears very small in appearance however true to form six applications it does (although I do have short-mid length hair - likely more would be needed for a person with very long hair)!
As above packaging is very small but the product holds 57ml. I think this may be due to the absolute minimal packaging used. I also found that the design of the tube means you can get every last bit out. Because the package material is so thin it is also possible to cut the tube open and get literally every last bit out!
Application of product is easy. The conditioner is very thick and non drip which means less is wasted and it sticks to the hair well. Instructions say to leave on for 2 minutes but sometimes I do less and still find the productive effective. It also rinses out well.
Quality of product/results
Very happy with the results this product has given me. Hair is soft and silky (but not too flyaway) and works well with my regular shampoo ('L'Oreal Elvive Highlights Shampoo). Post dye the product also works very well, especially as the dye I use does contain some bleach.
Overll very satisfied with product would highly recommend as a staple purchase whether you use the Clairol dye range or not.
This is a lovely conditioning treatment from Clairol.
It comes inside the hair dye packets but you can also buy it instore.
The conditioner smells nice. It has a pleasant scent to it that smells fresh and clean. The colour of the conditioner is white and it's quite thick and gloopy. However it's thick consistency means that it is non drip. I can apply this to my hair and leave it on for a few minutes without it dripping everywhere. You can also wrap the hair in a warm towel whilst leaving the conditioner on to allow it to soak into your hair better. The conditioner soaks into your hair well although it is also easy to rinse out. It rinses out easily and it doesn't leave any nasty residue in your hair after use.
After rinsing off this conditioner my hair feels lovely and soft and it helps to lock colour into my hair. This really helps your colour to stay in your hair instead of fading and/ or rinsing out. Plus the conditioner leaves your hair smelling clean and fresh. It keeps grease at bay for days and it doesn't cause dandruff and/ or irritation.
I would recommend this conditioner to everyone who dyes their hair.
I was in my local Boots store buying some more hair dye as it was on offer and this small tube caught my eye. I love a lot of the conditioners you get in with the hair colours as they seem to be quite intensive and always make my hair look really shiny, healthy and smell great. Although you can buy some good conditioners along with hair masks I find that none of them are as really good as what you get in with the hair colours.
~ THE PRODUCT ~
The product is made by Clairol, nice'n'easy and is a colourseal gloss for brilliant blondes. The small tube contains an intense conditioner for coloured hair to help keep hair looking bright and vibrant. When reading the back of the tube it states that the product should be left in for 2 minutes, so it's a bit like some intensive hair masks I have used before. The product was really cheap, so I thought I would give it a try and I hoped that this would leave my hair feeling really soft, shiny and bright.
~ PRICE/AVALIABILITY ~
I purchased this from my local Boots store for just 98p. It was in the hair colour section and they also do this product for brunettes and reds. Each tube is colour coded so it's easy to find the conditioner that you need.
~ PACKAGING ~
The colourseal gloss comes in a golden coloured tube which holds 30ml of product. The tube sits on its lid which is white in colour and screws on/off. On the front of the tube it states that the product is for brilliant blondes. On the back of the tube it gives you a list of ingredients and how to use the product. Apart from this information there isn't any other information about how the product keeps your hair looking vibrant or what special ingredients it contains to help colours vibrant looking.
~ USING THE PRODUCT ~
On the back of the tube it says fir best results to apply to damp hair and leave in for 2 minutes before rinsing out. I got into the shower and shampooed my hair as normal, using my normal colour shampoo. After rinsing the shampoo out I squeezed my hair to ensure most of the water had gone and then unscrewed the lid to the tube and squeezed a small amount of the conditioner into the palm of my hand. On the back of the tube there are markers saying week 1, week 2 and week 3. This gives you some idea of how much of the product to use. The conditioner is white and is quite thick. It has quite a strong coconut like smell to it which I thought was really nice. I spread the conditioner over my hair ensuring it was covered from root to tip and left the conditioner in for a few minutes to work. I probably actually left it in longer than 2 minutes as I was busy washing and shaving my legs. The product smelt really nice and I was wondering if it would leave my hair smelling slightly of coconut. I started to rinse the product out, this was easily done and as I used my hands to help wash out the product. I was expecting my hair to feel really soft as I washed the product out but it didn't feel soft or silky. The product rinsed out quite quickly with a little help using my hands.
~ RESULTS ~
I blow dried my hair as normal I looked in the mirror at the results. The coconut smell from the product had disappeared which I was disappointed by as I would have liked the smell to stay in my hair. My hair definitely feltt softer than it had done before and it looked more conditioned and made my colour look slightly brighter. The conditioner hadn't left my hair feeling weighted down or greasy. The results were great but I was expecting a little more. Although it had made my hair look slightly brighter it wasn't a huge improvement to what it was like before.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
As the conditioner cost me just 98p I had to try it. The product does only last for about 3 weeks going by the markers on the back of the tube. The overall smell of the product is really nice, but I was hoping the smell would have stayed for a bit longer rather than disappearing as soon as I dried my hair. The conditioner did improve the look and feel of my hair slightly but it wasn't a massive improvement and I'm sure I had better improvements with other hair masks I have previously tried. I give this product 3 out of 5 stars and I'm not sure whether I would bother buying it again or not.
