Advantages: All the natural eco-goodness of LUSH

Disadvantages: Just not right for thick, unmanageable hair

I am a real fan of all LUSH products, but this is not my favorite, it has to be said. Coolaulin is specifically designed to sooth dry, processed, or damaged hair, and a key feature of the marketing blurb is coconut. Processed cocout and coconut milk are combined with vetivert and benzoin essential oils, as well as lanolin and organic lemon juice.

I bought this one because it sounded nicest of the bottled choices, but I am finding it slightly disappointing. It does smell of coconut, but there is an underlying slightly acidic smell which puts me off - I put this down to either the lemon juice (would this make coconut milk curdle?) or else the lanolin (which i understand is frequently used on sheep). This was a real shame, as there is nothign nicer than the smell of coconut on your hair, and this was an element of this product which I was particularly attracted to from the description.

I am also unimpressed with the texture - I find mine to be very runny, so even though I have very short hair it is difficult to avoid using quite a lot in one go, meaning that the bottle does not last very long.

Finally, Coolaulin does not seem to do much for making my thick, dry hair more manageable, although that might be because it is wrong for my hair-type. Although it does slightly detangle my hair - I am at least able to get a comb through it after using Coolaulin - it does not make it noticibly less dry or damaged.

If, like me, you have thick, dry, highlighted short hair which needs a rich, creamy product to keep it tamed, I would give this one a miss, and stick to the richer products, such as American Cream.

Summary: Not my favorite LUSH product
