Advantages: No harsh cleansing ingredients, Organic, Smells lovely

Disadvantages: Quite expensive, Not widely available

I have always had a problem getting shampoo for my elder son. He has mild eczema, which is exacerbated by most shampoos, including all the 'dermatologist tested' and 'hypoallergenic' baby shampoos.

Whe realised at some point that they all contained Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulphate, and a little research revealed that this is a fairly harsh cleanser and degreaser, which has the reputation of causing skin problems in certain people.

For several months when Daniel was a baby we washed him in aqueous cream, a messy and not altogether pleasant bathtime experience. Then I discovered one or two shampoos and cleansers which didn't contain SLS/SLES, but they were mostly available through mail order.

I was extremely pleased, therefore, to see DGJ Organic Shampoo for Babes on the shelf in Tesco when I was doing my weekly shop. For the first time, the packaging of a shampoo directly mentioned SLS/SLES. It claimed to be made from mild cleansing agents, with lavender to calm and relax babies.

I thought it was worth a try, so I bought a bottle. Not only does it suit Daniel, I also use it on his newborn baby brother. I now have two sweet smelling babies with lovely soft skin - and I've been known to use it on myself when my eczema has flared up.

ooh, might have to buy some of this as my daughter has the same trouble - even Weleda (very mild brand but does have some SLS, expected it not to as their toothpaste doesnt) irritates her scalp a bit, esp if she freaks out at the rinsing stage and its not as thoroughly rinsed as it could be.
