I first used hair wax in my teen years, when I got bored of using the gel that made your hair look like you had dipped it in a deep fat fryer. However, not long later I was back on the gel. . . mainly as at that time my mum was doing the shopping and she always bought gel! The last year or so though, and being away from home has lead to greater freedom in my choice of hair products and have to say this is by far the best of the ones I have tried! I have been through the Garnier Fructis Surf Hair, V05 Extreme Hold as well as various Brylcreem and others (and I must admit most of these have been stolen (or "borrowed") from others - I do not ... I used Dax wave and groom for styling my hair for about two years after i tried my mates one day. I initially thought it was great as my hair is really thin and it used to hold my hair in place after a long day or out in the wind without having to use hairspray on top of the product that i choose to use. The streght of the product - 10/10 it holds extremely well all day on even the thinnest of hairs and you can re mould it to which ever style you want even after hours of it being in your hair The smell of the product - 0/10 it has no smell which is dissapointing How does it makes your hair feel after use : 2/10 A nightmare! This product is a miracle, for a long time i always wanted to have nice spikey hair with style and a fringe, and i have used a variety of products from gel, to clay and wax. Now Dax (the red one) is the best i have used yet. I cannot believe that the best product i have ever used is the cheapest, i pickted this up for £1.70 from a local hair shop, but i have seen prices up to £3 from places like Boots. Now i don't know if this will work on everyones hair, i assume it wud be hard for people with thick hair. My hair is a bit curley but i straighten it and use this product after. After many attemps with Lo'real, shockwaves, American crew and Fudge, I ... Read the complete review

Oh dear, what can I say about this without putting people off. This stuff is seriously heavy duty and will make your hair suffer if you use too much or too regularly. The test: I used to use this on hair about two or three inches long to try and give the hair some sort of hold. It does give the hair hold, it literally moulds it into a wx and leaves it stuck there like a sculpture. Styling: You need a very small amount of this as too much will weigh the hair down and make your hair looks odd and shiny. It is easy to get out of the tub and easy to apply. Washing it out: This is the bad bit, this stuff is a nightmare to wash out. It used to ... Read the complete review

USE THIS! You see, i made the mistake of using VO5's appalling styling wax, a product so lacking in hold that i had to bolster it with a lump of gel. i thought it was my own fault, that my hair was too straight and boring to let the wax do its job... BUT NO! One (long overdue) word with the hairdresser later, and he says: switch to Red Dax, it's stiff as old lard. And he was right! It bends, musses, twists and generally distorts, without ever collapsing. OK, so you have to wash your hair every day to stop your head getting weighed down with this industrial strength gunk, and make sure you put the shampoo on before you wet your hair, else you wont shift it. ...
