Advantages: it actually works, no bleach, no ammonia, easy to use, quick, safe, softest hair ever

Disadvantages: none at all

Scott Cornwall has used the latest technology to make this hair colour remover which is kind to your hair, will do no damage, has no bleach or ammonia in it.. However they don't say anything else, just amazing latest technology, I find this a little vague. This claims to have no bleach or Ammonia in the mixture but it does have a lot of nitrates, chlorides, fragrance and alcohol in it. So it doesn't seem completely harmless.

There's many reasons why someone should use a hair colour remover - if they want to safely change their hair colour, if they have bleached it loads and want to strip it all away. I have damaged a lot of my hair this year, after I died it red I used an unfamiliar bleach on my hair and it ruined my hair making it all fall out in clumps (thankfully not from the roots) so I dyed it black as a quick cover up, went and got my hair cut off and decided I want my hair back brown.. I was not going to use bleach again!

I was simply looking for a colour stripper in Boots when they had a full new shelf dedicated to decolour. There are quite a few different types meant for different things and they all range from £10 -£15 pounds a box but are in the 3 for 2 offer. I needed to find which one was suitable to me and on the side of the box it says "use when" and a list of things that could be your situation and under "don't use when" and a list of things to counter your situation but at the bottom it says if you are affected by these see a different box, only it does state which box to look at and you continue until you find the right one for you.

This is the box I found I needed it is £12.99 we are told to buy more than one box if hair is below the shoulders. This box is specifically for previously bleached hair(a lot) if it has been died a lot as well and if your hair is currently dark brown or black and you wish to go lighter. It's important you get the right one and because I have bleach the hell out of my hair it was important I got the right hair colour remover.

There are three steps to this step 1 - the activator step 2 - the remover and step 3 - conclude balm. You put step 1 into the bottle of step 2 and shake up until it is mixed, this is the same as if you was dying your hair. Hair must be clean and bone dry. I had to look in the instructions for this because it was new to me and important I got it right. There are lots of scenario's such as what if my hair is black, or I have previously bleach my hair five times and then more useful questions like can I dye my hair straight afterwards.

The mixture when make up is just the same as any hair dye only this is white, the bottle is a fairly big size as well. Must make sure that gloves are on when applying this. This came out really fast and runny, I'd imagine the consistency is to make it light and make sure it goes far. This is really easy to apply because it spreads easy I didn't use a brush to apply I just rubbed this in with my hands and that worked well for me. I left this on for 40 minutes, which it states to do or leave on until hair is light enough.

It also says to encourage heat to the hair to help it work faster so I wrapped my hair in a towel and put a hair dryer on it and within 10 minutes when I peaked I could see my hair colour changing, although I was constantly worried about the condition of my hair, is it as good as they say it is. After my 40 minutes was up I rinsed my hair, it says to comb through the hair whilst rinsing it to make sure all the molecules are removed from the hair so I did as I was instructed.

Once rinsed my hair from black was a light ginger colour which made me so happy! and it wasn't falling out either. But the real test was about to come, I brushed my hair and I was happy that it went straight through with no knotts, I then dried it. The colour was even lighter when it was dry and to my amazement it is was the softest hair I have ever had in my life, I can't describe how well conditioned it was and this was before I had even completed step 3, usually you'll apply this while still wet but I was going to dye my hair brown straight away.

In summary, I did think that this was pricey, but that was before I used it, I know think that this is quite cheap for the results it actually provides, the box information alone is so helpful to make sure you get the right one for you, the instructions and questions it provides are extremely useful to anyone unsure. It was really easy and quick to apply and the change took place when the first heat was applied, I still can't believe the softness and how light my hair actually was, it's amazing and it's not often I say that about anything! will now only be using this instead of bleach if I need to in the future.

Summary: a replacement for bleach
