Advantages: reasonable price, keeps colour strong
Disadvantages: none
As I mentioned in a previous review, I got a full sized tube of this deep conditioning treatment from website Bzz Agent along with the matching shampoo. I have already reviewed the shampoo which I loved so thought I would review this too.
The product comes packaged in a tube and although similar to that of the shampoo, I actually think the tube looks nicer. I have already tried one Dove deep conditioning treatment - the Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment conditioner - and found the lettering wore off the tube, but I've had no such problem with this one so far. I should also note that I didn't actually like that product very much, so I was interested to see how I would get on with this one.
This product is for coloured hair and claims to keep hair looking more vibrant for up to ten weeks. I was surprised to read that the packaging advises to use this daily instead of your usual conditioner. I didn't actually know that, I've been using it once a week as a treatment.
To use, simply apply this product through the lengths of the hair avoiding the roots after shampooing and instead of your normal conditioner. It should then be left on between one and three minutes before rinsing out.
The conditioner has a sort of two tone effect, being pink and white. It's almost stripy like toothpaste, but not quite as the consistency means that the two colours merge into one another somewhat. Apparently the pink is a 'colour revitaliser stripe', but I tend to rub the conditioner together in the palms of my hand before application anyway so it's mixed when it goes on my hair.
Being a treatment the conditioner has a consistency slightly thicker than most regular conditioners, but is not so thick that it is difficult to distribute through my hair. It has a pleasant salon type smell to it, which is slightly fruity and quite sweet.
After use, I have been very pleased with the results from this conditioner. It softens my hair and seems to add a much needed moisture boost to the ends of my hair which can be quite dry. When used in conjunction with the matching shampoo this seems to calm the frizz in my hair and make it more manageable, but most impressive is how well it keeps the colour. It has been probably eight or nine weeks since my hair was dyed, but the colour is still looking vibrant and glossy and I am sure it is these Dove products that are the reason.
A 180ml tube of this conditioner costs £3.35 from Superdrug or £3.29 from Tesco which I feel are both very reasonable prices for such a fantastic product.
Overall, I would highly recommend this conditioner and I am very pleased with it. It leaves my hair feeling lovely and soft, reduces frizz and helps prolong the colour. A well deserved five stars from me.
Summary: Another lovely Dove product
