“ Brand: Dove / Type: Hair Shampoo „
Although I love most of the products I have tried in the Dove range, I have not found their shampoo products to be as good for me personally as the soap, shower gels, deodorants and body lotions have been.
After trying a couple of bottles of shampoo from the Dove range previously and not being very impressed I decided I wouldn't be buying any again. That was until this Dove Damage Therapy Silk & Sleek Shampoo caught my eye sitting on the end shelves of an aisle in Morrisons recently, at a promotional price of just over a pound a bottle.
I have two or three favourite shampoos and probably the one I purchase the most is Pantene's Smooth & Sleek shampoo. Therefore I think it was the name of this Dove shampoo which caught my eye and I wondered if this 'Silk & Sleek' shampoo would be anywhere as good as Pantene's similarly named Smooth & Sleek shampoo. Despite my previous decision never to buy anymore Dove shampoos, I found myself dropping one into my trolley. After all, at just over a pound a bottle, it wasn't a lot to pay if I didn't like it.
Dove's damage therapy range use advanced damage care and repair technology, which contains micro moisture serum to help effectively repair and smooth hair surface and protect it against frizz and flyaways. This Silk & Sleek shampoo promises to leave your hair feeling nourished, silky smooth and shiny.
I have long hair which can become a little dry at the ends despite regualr trims and as my hair has a natural curl, it can also end up looking frizzy in humid or damp weather. I often use straighteners on my hair to obtain a smooth, sleek look and have found that using Pantene smooth and sleek shampoo and conditioner, helps me achieve the look I want for my hair as well as leaving it feeling silky and smooth.
This Dove Silk & Sleek shampoo is a white creamy shampoo with a nice fragrance which has a floral scent and although it is difficult to describe exactly what it reminds me of, it certainly is pleasant.
I only need a small amount of shampoo to create a very creamy lather on my hair and I was impressed at the moisturising feel I got whilst massaging the shampoo into my hair. It does feel quite luxurious and very similar to using my trusty Pantene.
Rinsing it out, my hair feels clean and moisturised and my fingers glide quite easily through my hair which I always think is a good sign that I will like the shampoo and my hair won't feel dry or tangled. The shampoo rinses out really easily too, without leaving any residue on my hair.
I was quite impressed with this shampoo from the very first time I used it around four weeks ago and since then I have continued to use it with pleasing results. I achieve the smooth look I want for my hair and it resists the urge to go frizzy in humid or damp weather reasonably well. Whilst I don't think it is quite as good as Pantene, it certainly is much better than I expected given my past experiences with shampoos from the Dove range and I have been quite happy to continue using it to use the bottle up.
So would I buy Dove Damage Therapy Silk & Sleek Shampoo again?
Well the answer has to be yes, but I think I will only purchase it when I see it on offer at a promotional price as I still think Pantene has the edge for me. However, the fact that I have found a shampoo in the Dove range which I like, is a bonus as far as I am concerned and this product has restored my faith in Dove shampoos. I had given up on them but this one has restored my faith.
If you like to use Pantene Smooth & Sleek shampoo, then you may want to try Dove Damage Therapy Silk & Sleek Shampoo too!
