I bought this conditioning spray following a conversation with a work colleague. She swore that this stuff "saved" her hair, so when I saw it on offer for half price in Superdrug I dropped one into my basket. My hair was very dry from colouring and was in need of some good old moisture!
The spray comes in a pump bottle with a blue plastic lid. The spray contains oil which tends to rise to the top of the bottle, so it's a good idea to give the bottle a shake before use.
I use the spray on both wet and dry hair, although I tend to use it on dry hair more. In fact I use this daily alongside my Moroccan Oil. I use this spray all over my hair and I use the oil on the ends of my hair. The good thing about this spray is that it never leaves your hair feeling greasy. I even massage this spray into my roots as apparently scalp massage helps to stimulate hair growth! The spray doesn't leave me with greasy roots either and I am noticing rapid hair growth.
This spray smells great with the classic "Dove" scent. It also lasts ages as a little goes a long way with its fine delicate mist. It really refreshes my dry coloured hair without stripping my hair of colour. It's easy to use and it always leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny.
I have noticed a positive difference since using this spray. My hair is less dry and I don't lose as much of it compared to before using the spray. It's a lot less brittle so it doesn't break off as much at the ends now.
Overall this is a lovely light hair conditioning spray from Dove. If you colour/ blow dry/ straighten your hair like I do then I would certainly recommend this!
I'm a huge fan of Dove and as a result, I have been using their skin and hair care products for a good few years. The hair care range offers a multitude of products, which are designed for different hair types, so you are sure to find a product suitable for your needs. Whilst I have tried and tested a large proportion of their products, the range from which I make the majority of my purchases is Damage Solutions, particularly as my just below shoulder length, thick and curly hair is prone to dryness and frizz on the tips. One of my latest finds is their Intensive Repair Leave-In Conditioning Spray and this review discusses my experience.
The product is visually appealing, as is the entire Dove range, which always gives me the impression of luxury and high quality. The 200 ml conditioning spray is presented in a sturdy transparent plastic bottle enabling us to witness the contents, which consist of two layers; one of which is milky and the other being almost water-like in appearance. As far as I am aware, the product is unique with its dual formula with one of the layers containing Fibre Actives, which are claimed to penetrate into each of the hair fibres and the other containing Moisture Serum, which Dove claim will smooth and seal the hair cuticle.
My hair care routine consists of washing my hair on alternate days where I follow up with a matching conditioner and for an extra moisture boost I will use an intensive conditioning treatment on a weekly basis. The tips of my hair are prone to dryness and frizz due to the continued use of home colorants and heated appliances. Consequently, I figured that this product would be quick and easy to use during the week on those occasions when my hair is feeling a little dry. To ensure that the two layers effectively combine, the bottle needs a good shake prior to spraying onto either damp or dry hair. Whilst it makes no difference whether applying to either damp or dry hair, I much prefer to use on damp hair and the easy to use dispenser enables the spray to be released in a fine mist, which covers a good area.
As I do not suffer with dryness at the roots or my hair nor do I wish to cause greasiness, I apply the spray to the mid length of my hair and down towards the tip. Be careful not to use too much, as otherwise the liquid will drip from the hair. The spray offers a slight sweetness, which is not normally an aroma that would generally appeal to me, but I must admit to finding it very favourable, particularly as it gently lingers on the hair for a short while following use.
I use a large toothed comb to evenly distribute the conditioning spray and then style as normal. I generally tend to leave my hair for approximately half an hour prior to blow drying and as my hair begins to dry I am immediately able to witness the positive effects. I would advise that my hair is generally soft and smooth to the touch due to the quality products that I regularly use although I found that the spray offered additional softness, which was silky smooth to the touch. I also favoured the fact that the spray delivered a beautiful healthy shine.
The tips of my hair can often appear a little jagged due to breakage and split ends and whilst I am not stating that this spray will cure the problem, it most definitely softens both their appearance and texture. Whilst having a very positive opinion of Dove, I was initially a little concerned that the conditioning spray would be heavy on my hair. However, this was not the case and I would totally agree with Dove's claim that the spray is weightless. In addition, it is easily washed out of the hair without leaving any sticky residue.
Due to the reasons discussed above, I can highly recommend this product and I will definitely be making a further purchase. The entire Dove range is currently half price at Boots, so you can make a purchase for just £1.69, which represents excellent value for money.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
This leave-in conditioner was a bit of an impulse buy. I was in Boots buying shampoo and conditioner and noticed that hair care was on a 3 for 2 offer. Although I didn't want or need anything in particular I decided to get a third item anyway, since it was free. I eventually chose the Dove Damage Solutions Intensive Repair Leave-in Conditioning Spray.
The spray comes in a clear bottle and the product separates whilst in the bottle so half is clear and half is milky. I did notice when buying this that there were several similar products from Dove with only the colour of the lid to distinguish them. Despite reading the bottles I couldn't work out which was which at the time so ended up choosing this just because I liked the blue colouring.
The product is said to help prevent breakages and split ends, 'to help keep hair soft and touchable all day long'. I have long hair and I use a hair dryer and hair straighteners regularly, so I do have a bit of damage to the ends, so this product is ideal for me.
To use, you first need to shake the bottle to mix the two layers, then this can be sprayed into either damp or dry hair. I've used it both ways and neither one seems any better than the other. The spray goes on in quite a fine mist and has a sweet candy scent to it.
I tend to spray this into the lengths of my hair, comb through and then style as usual. If you spray a lot it will dampen the hair slightly, however it doesn't ever interfere with any other styling products and I can just style my hair as usual after applying this.
Once in my hair this feels weightless and I really can't tell that its there. I've not had great results from leave-in conditioners in the past, so I wasn't expecting miracles, but I do think there has been a noticeable difference to my hair since I started using this. The main thing I have noticed is simply that it feels so soft and silky to the touch. I can't say for certain if it is doing anything to reduce damage, but my hair does seem to look healthier and hasn't been breaking off as often as it was.
A 200ml bottle of this costs £3.39 from Boots, which I think is a fairly reasonable price.
On the whole I am pleased with this product. It's quick and easy to use and does seem to have had some positive effects on my hair, so whilst not the most exciting product on the market, I would recommend it.
