I am not loyal to any specific brand of shampoo/conditioner, so I am frequently shopping around for the best deals or on offer products. I do my weekly shop at my local Tesco so it is often here that I buy my hair products from. I purchased this one as it was on buy one get one free offer, and knowing Dove was a relatively well known brand I decided to give it a go. Pricing and Volume of Product =================== As previously mentioned this was brought as part of a 'BOGOF' offer. I paid £2.69 for my shampoo receiving this for free. The tube contains 200ml of conditioner, this I marginally less than the majority of conditioners on the market with most products being around 400ml. The shampoo in this range contains 250ml, I am unsure as to why the two products differ in volume. I was not overly pleased about this as I tend to use quite a lot of conditioner on my hair as it is quite long, so felt slightly conned that I would have to purchase another conditioner before my shampoo ran out. I was happy with the price I paid for the two products, however if these were not on offer I would not have paid that much separately for such a small product. What It Claims ========== *Taken from the back of the bottle* 'Our Micro Moisture Serum goes to a cellular level and helps protect against the damage from blow drying, straightening and heat styling by creating a shield around the hair fibre. Enjoy beautifully styled and smooth hair that is protected.' I brought this as it claims to protect from heat styling up to 200°C, as I use straighteners on my hair every day I try to look after my hair as much as possible, so this product seemed perfect. My Experience ========== Before I start with how effective this product is, I must first say about my incident with the bottle. I packed this along with my shopping as I would usually do with all my hair products, nothing too heavy in the bag, and my local Tesco I just a 5 minute drive from my house. On returning home and unpacking my bags, the conditioner had leaked quite a considerable amount into my bag and onto my other shopping. I would say I lost just under a third of the conditioner before I'd even had a chance to use this, and as the bottle is only small anyway I was not impressed at all. The bottle is quite malleable which may be good for when you are using it but not good when it's leaking out onto all of your shopping. The lid also does not feel as it clips securely into place after use, so this probably contributed also to reason for spillage. So let's get back to how effective this is. To receive best results you should use this in combination with the heat defence shampoo which I did. So I firstly washed my hair and conditioned as normal. You are advised to leave on for one minute before rinsing thoroughly. Once I had towel dried my hair I could immediately smell the scent coming from it, it was very fragrant and I was pleased with the sweet smell it gave my hair. It was very easy to brush out, with very few tangles and knots. I dried my hair as usual, once finished my hair did feel very smooth, and had a little shine to it. I wasn't overly concerned about the shine as I was using this for the protection nothing else, but was pleased with the added result. My hair seemed easier to straighten than normal; it didn't take half the time as it normally would. Which was also an added bonus. Once finished the ends of my hair were noticeably smoother and not brittle which I normally find with my hair due to all the daily straightening. My split ends were also harder for me to spot which I was very pleased with. To Summarise Overall I was very pleased with how effective this product was. I have now been using this for about 2 weeks, and my hair is visibly in a lot better condition. It's a lot softer and smells great up until the time of my next wash. I was most pleased with the change in my split ends. I am going to mark this down two stars, due to leaking of the product, and the fact that it contains less product than the shampoo. I would buy this again if it was on offer, but for me £2.69 is a bit steep for such a small product.
I really have to use a conditioner on my hair just about every time I wash it, especially since I have had it lightened it seems to be much drier, especially at the ends. If I just washed my hair and then tried to dry it, it would look in really poor condition overall and very dry. I like to use a good quality product, but I don't like to pay sky-high prices, either. After all, who on earth does? I buy Dove Heat Defence Conditioner from Home Bargains at the brilliant price of only 99p for a 200ml bottle. This compares very favourably with the likes of (my favourite shop) Tesco, where they are selling it at a low price too, but it's £1.24 there. I love Dove products in general and I have always had great results with Dove, as a range, and this conditioner also has not failed to really impress me. I use heated appliances on my hair, and they can really dry my hair out very quickly and I like to use a product that will protect it from the damage that the heat can cause. This was my prime reason for purchasing this particular hair conditioner. I am using this conditioner almost every night now after I have washed my hair in the shower. I have to wash my hair every day as I have incredibly greasy roots and I also feel that washing my hair as often as I do also dries my hair out. That's why I'll often use a dry shampoo between washes, just to give my hair a bit of a rest. This conditioner is quite thick in consistency, but then I wasn't expecting it to be particularly runny. It smells gorgeous, just like all the other lovely Dove products I have ever used. It's a real pleasure to use and it detangles my hair and I can really feel it smoothing it out even before I have waited and then rinsed it off. It does rinse off well and it doesn't weight my hair down as some conditioners can do. It's light and creamy and when my hair has been dried and styled I really feel it gives it more bounce and shine and a bit of life. I also think that I am causing less damage to my hair by using heated appliances once I have sued this lovely conditioner. It adds a certain 'coating' to the shafts of my hair which protects it from the heat of the hairdryer and of my styling tong. It's well worth the price and really do recommend this product.
I like to try out as many different shampoos and conditioners as possible, I find that when I use the same one over and over again, my hair gets used to the product and then it gets limp and lifeless or greasy. I find that changing my shampoo and conditioner every now and again, it boosts a bit of life into my hair and keeps it fresh and healthy looking. I have always loved the Dove hair products and when I seen the heat theropy conditioner in Tesco, I decided that it would be the perfect shampoo for my hair. Application This conditioner is applied just like any other conditioner that I use at home, I take a small dollop and then work it through my hair concentrating on the ends. I find that this conditioner is really easy to apply and you do not need a lot of it to get good results. Scent This conditioner smells lovely, it has the same clean, fresh smell that most the other Dove products have and the scent reminds me of the hairdressers. I really like the scent of this conditioner and it lingers in my hair for quite a while after I have washed it. What I Thought I really liked this conditioner, I found that after using it my hair smells amazing and feels really healthy and luxurious. My hair also looks great and has lots of shine and volume to it. The heat defence that it provides must be effective as my hair is not as split or damaged as it was before and I have been using curling irons and straighteners just as often. I really like how light this conditioner feels in my hair, it does not weigh it down or make it look flat and I have found that my hair has had much more volume than usual since using it. Price and Availability You can buy a 200ml bottle of this conditioner for £1.22 in Tesco at the moment. I think that this is a great price for such a great quality conditioner and I will definitely buy it again. Overall I really liked this conditioner and will definitely buy it again, it makes my hair feel really healthy and smell amazing, also it smells really nice and is reasonably priced. Overall I would give this conditioner 5 out of 5 stars. *also on ciao under lorrainek90
I bought the Dove Damage Therapy Heat Defence shampoo and conditioner after trying the heat protection spray from the same range and loving it. I try to use matching products but lately it never seems to work out and so I have ended up using this conditioner alongside four different shampoos - the matching one, two Lush shampoos and an anti-dandruff shampoo. The conditioner comes in a white bottle (it's changed since the picture above) which stands on its lid so hopefully you will be able to get every last drop out. The packaging is OK, but it doesn't look anything special and I think you can tell that this is a drugstore shampoo rather than a premium or salon brand. The range is developed especially for hair damaged by heat appliances, which unfortunately is a category which sums up my hair well. My hair is long and thick and not only do I dye it but I straighten and curl it regularly too so it does get more than it's fair share of abuse from my GHD's! This product along with the matching shampoo, apparently contains 'micro moisture serum' which Dove say will create a shield around the hair protecting it against heat without weighing it down. The conditioner is glossy and white and has a beautiful scent. It is similar to the scent of Dove soap, but I think it has a slightly floral edge to it. I'd describe it as being neutral, bordering on girly! The consistency of the conditioner is nice, it is thick, but spreads through the hair well and feels light in the hair on application. Weirdly, no instructions for use are printed on the bottle. Of course, I know how to apply conditioner - even I'm not that dense -but many conditioners have to be left on the hair for a couple of minutes to work. As this one had no instructions, I tried both rinsing straight away and leaving in for 2-3 minutes and to be honest I didn't see any noticeable difference in the results so now I just rinse it off straight away. Another thing which does not seem to make a difference to the results I get from this conditioner, is which shampoo I use it with. I have tried with all four shampoos I have on the go (I really must sort that situation out!) and the results have been the same every time, so although I'm sure Dove would recommend it, you don't necessarily have to use this conditioner with the matching shampoo to achieve good results. After using this, my hair feels very soft and silky. The first noticeable difference is actually that it is smooth and detangled as having long, thick hair it is prone to knots. The conditioner seems to leave my hair feeling slightly moisturised and healthier as before I began using this it would feel very dry, especially on the ends. As for stopping heat damage I honestly could not say one way or the other without doing a before and after of my hair under a microscope, but the fact that using it makes me feel like I am doing something to help the state of my hair is enough for me just now! I bought this from Boots it was on special offer at the time, but the current price is £2.65 for a 200ml bottle. Overall I think this is a good conditioner. It's nothing special for me if I'm honest and not a product I can really get excited about, however it is reasonably priced, smells nice, detangles my hair and leaves it smooth and hopefully, fingers crossed it is protecting it from heat too. If you're looking for a drugstore conditioner that fits all these categories, you could do worse than to buy a bottle of this!
