As promised, I am writing my review for the Dove Intense Care Therapy Conditioner with Repairing Serum - albeit it's a little later than promised, but it's here now, so don't fret.
I first came across Dove Intense Care Therapy Conditioner with Repairing Serum when I was in Boots picking up my usual Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner. Like I mentioned in Shampoo review, I have no idea why these products (the shampoo and conditioner) caught my eye as I'd already felt as if the Aussie products were my holy grail, but I picked these up anyway. I've been using them both for just a little over a month now.
Diagnosis - dry, rough hair with accumulated damage.
Dove Solution - Intense Care Therapy Conditioner. The Advanced repairing serum in the formulation contains millions of micro particles that help repair severe accumulated damage by penetrating into the finest lines and breaks on the hair surface. Prevents split end from re-appearing without weighing hair down.
The conditioner comes in a tall, navy blue, curved plastic bottle (just like the one in the picture above). It has a flip top with is on the bottom of the bottle, so that all the product falls to the opening, making it easier to get the last of the product out. It has the Dove Therapy logo plastered across the front and then the shampoo name below. There is also a small label that says "new formula advanced serum" on it, and a line near the bottom of the bottle that says this is for dry & damaged hair. Now, I in no way have dry or damaged hair, I have extremely healthy hair and do everything I can to keep it that way, so I figured I might as well give this a go. On the back of the bottle is all of the usual information, directions, ingredients, company information - I won't bore you with this, but if you're genuinely curious about all this information, send me a message or buy yourself a bottle!
Now, this is where the review may get confusing, so bear with me. I'd been using this conditioner for roughly 3.5 weeks and had fallen completely in love with it. It smelled divine and made my hair feel, look and smell absolutely amazing. I couldn't say a bad work about it.
Then I purchased a new bottle and opened it up in the shower, squirted some into my hand and thought it was a funny colour and had a funny scent - that's when I noticed the "new formula advanced serum" sticker. Yep, you got it, they changed the formula, so I'll be reviewing the NEW formula whilst comparing it to the OLD formula.
old formula/new formula
-------------------------------
- white and creamy in colour/pale lemon and creamy in colour.
- the same thick consistency in both.
- fresh, distinguishable dove scent/new, weird, fake tan scent.
- leaves hair soft, shiny and in perfect condition/makes no difference to hair at all.
Personally, I think their new formula sucks, and have even contemplated writing to them to ask why they changed it as it's really not great at all. My hair has lost some of it's shine and the silky feel to it since the change in formula, and I've even went back to using the Aussie Conditioner that I used to use.
Dermatologically tested.
Mild formula - pH balanced.
For frequent use.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately.
I purchased my first 200ml bottle of this conditioner in Boots for just over £1.50 (the exact price escapes me), but you can now buy it in Asda for only £1.
Summary
------------
- not as good as the old formula
- has a strange scent
- not really recommended by me
- if they go back to the old formula, or I can find a store that sells the old formula, I'll re-purchase that
Thank you for reading!
