~~ Dove Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment Conditioner ~~
As my waist length hair is constantly subjected to an array of products in addition to the heat of my hair dryer and straighteners it is prone to dry ends. I wash my hair every other day where I use normal run-of-the-mill conditioners, but once a week I prefer to use an intensive product. A few weeks ago I was lucky to receive a freebie through the post from Dove, which was a 50ml tube of their Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment Conditioner and this review discusses my experience with using it.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Dove hair products and as a consequence, my expectations for this product were very high. The tube is identical in appearance to the larger version containing 180 ml where it neatly sits on its flip top lid. My initial impressions of the cream and gold plastic packaging were luxurious and high quality and I couldn't wait to try it out for the first time.
I squirted the thick creamy product from the tube and witnessed a beautiful golden colour, but on closer examination I realised that the cream was striped and located above the gold was a pearly white cream. I was able to witness a beautiful and very delicate floral aroma although I would have preferred for it to have been a little more obvious. As my tube was a marketing sample there were no directions for use contained on the reverse, but the accompanying booklet advised that the treatment is three times more powerful than a normal conditioner and carries out its job in just one minute. I also learned from carrying out a little online research that the product is suitable for daily use and is intended to replace a normal conditioner.
The concept of the product, which is dual action, is that the golden stripe is intended to deeply nourish the hair and replenish essential nutrients whilst the white stripe is claimed to seal cuticles and lock in nourishment and smooth frizz. This is rather unique, particularly as it's the first hair product I'm aware of that offers stripes and I applied the luxurious cream to the ends of my hair and waited one minute for it to work its magic. The aroma considerably intensified during application, which I found extremely favourable. The cream was easily rinsed away without leaving any greasiness and the ends of my hair felt silky soft and smooth to the touch. I towel dried my hair as normal and blow dried and once my hair was fully dry I was able to feel and witness the results after just one application. The ends of my hair didn't feel as dry as they had previously and they offered a beautiful glossy appearance. The cream had the added bonus of transferring its beautiful fragrance into my hair, which was still evident the following day.
My hair continued to feel wonderfully smooth and it offered a beautiful shine. The appearance of the ends seemed more sleek and manageable and I felt as if I'd received an expensive salon treatment. I'm not a fan of the aroma of coconut due to an over indulgence with Malibu many years ago, so I was surprised to discover that its oil is in the treatment together with almond oil. However and fortunately for me, the cream does not offer a coconut aroma as I simply would not be able to use it. I continued to use the remainder of my 50 ml sample tube, which lasted me a good 12 hair washes and I have definitely seen and felt a noticeable difference in my hair, which is more nourished.
The full sized 180 ml tube retails at £3.36 and at the time of writing, you can purchase two from Boots for the price of one. This product represents excellent value for money as it is of a high quality and is so easy to use. The cream should be used within 12 months of opening and the tube can be recycled once empty. I cannot recommend this highly enough and as a result, it receives 5 stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
